Of course Cisco is diversifying! We're bringing in many, many Salesforce.com employees.

So, @Y9Ca7d4-3hlu - you are saying that the Cisco Diversity report that is presented to the street has false data? Because that's what it says here https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/about/csr/csr-report.html#~stickynav=4

If you go there, you have reports since 2005 until 2018. And the DATA shows that what I said is true. E.g. 2018 (pages 57 and 58):

  1. 78% of the VP's is male. 72% is white.

  2. 80% of the Leadership and people managers are male. 61% are white.

So where is your data coming from? Because in your department there are less white male VP's? That's not the reality of Cisco US. And it's a shame.

I will give you one thing though - we all know that the Asian's in the report are mainly Indians and HR is well aware that when a manager is Indian, they tend to hire their own. So Cisco will not be more diverse by replacing one majority for another. But the data shows that there is a lot of talk and no walk...

@Y9Ca7d4-3ofh: Whatever the history of SV, the reality today is that people of all nationalities and genders have plenty to contribute to the tech community and should be welcomed with open arms. That said, there are some populations that are overrepresented at Cisco relative to the general tech community. Cisco is not representative of the larger tech community in any way.

@Y9Ca7d4-2iih I'm talking about the founding of Silicon Valley, which started with Shockley Labs, then Fairchild Semiconductor, later Apple Computer and others. All were founded by white males. Most of the members of the Homebrew Computer club that Apple came out of were white males. They are drawn to tech more than other demographics. Not saying that women and others have not contributed and can't continue to contribute, but they are not drawn to tech in large numbers. That is why tech was "dominated" by white males, just like nursing and teaching is "dominated" by females. It's self selection not entitlement. However these days due to H1B tech is mostly Indian males and there are more Indian females than white males left in tech.

White males are 70% of the exec (VP and above) - patently false, unless you count East and South Asians as “white”. I now have 2 white VP’s between myself and CR. But that’s fairly recent. The 10 years before that, I had about 7-8 layers of management, and except for Chambers, they were all Chinese or South Asian.

My current “white” VP is a diversity junkie and my management have let me know that my upcoming promise of promotion is now on “hold” because, well, I don’t tick any social points box.

HR and ER make sure all cases are covered in the good name of the business, I know well one of HR who knows about firing unlawfully one employee but has refused to do anything about it worrying about own role.

@Y9Ca7d4-2iih "White males started the tech industry and invented the first products."

Say what now?

If there are still white males left at Cisco it’s only because the diversity and inclusion officer hasn’t got to them yet. White males started the tech industry and invented the first products. White males were drawn to tech more than others. It has nothing to do with entitlement.

Look beyond US region. @Y9Ca7d4-1itb, you are right. Just go ahead check the ANZ , UK and Europe CEC directory . Rewind 10 years back and check the stock price. Guess who was the executives back then?

Oh please, @Y9Ca7d4-1fsr - cry me a river. Just look into the Cisco Diversity report that is available in the Cisco CEC for anyone to see. White males are more than 70% of any category that is Managers, VP and above, with the exception of the ELT because that makes Cisco look good in the street. And our CEO and Chairman is a white male.

What else do you want? 100% of Executives being White Males? Oh, the entitlement...

Sounds like a tactic the North Korean government utilizes to manipulate citizens.

This makes me want to throw up my dinner. I’ve never seen the payment or other quid pro quo, but yes, there’s no way this isn’t strategically placed PR. It’s total BS. I’ve never seen a less conscious corporate culture, and it makes me ill that supposedly credible media sources like Forbes publish this drivel. I’ll give Fran the benefit of the doubt and call this “conscious culture” initiative aspirational, but it has no hope of succeeding while the ELT insists on burying its collective head in the sand. The handful of extra HR cases coming in recently to report “bad behavior” won’t begin to touch the toxicity. Entire management structures need to be flushed out, more externals brought in at all levels. This is the proverbial lipstick on the pig. *%#@!!!

Do you think that anyone would write about Cisco’s politically correct social engineering programs if they were not paid?
