Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

FRA and UP

Miracle of the Hudson pilot Sully talking about conflicts of interest between FAA and Boeing. Sounds like the relationship between the FRA and UP. FRA slacking on their job and the safety managers at UP are the same people responsible for production in many cases.

“This, of course, has created inherent conflicts of interest, when employees working for the company whose products must be certified to meet safety standards are the ones doing much of the work of certifying them. There simply are not nearly enough FAA employees to do this important work in-house.....

To make matters worse, there is too cozy a relationship between the industry and the regulators. And in too many cases, FAA employees who rightly called for stricter compliance with safety standards and more rigorous design choices have been overruled by FAA management, often under corporate or political pressure.”

Money often makes people do things they wouldn’t otherwise do. That’s why K Street in Washington DC is lined with lobbying firms...everyone has his price and if money doesn’t work, a beautiful complimentary dinner companion and “tour guide” will show you the city and then some...

That’s why self fulfillment and greed need to be kept in check, unless you operate from Lance’s book.
