Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

With the direction the company is going in,staying is not a good option

I aways thought that they will give up on their ideas to copy Home Depot and the philosophy that the workforce should consist mostly of heaply paid young par timers. Apparently I was wrong. Even more, I think that Lowe’s has passed the line of no return and that from now on it’s going to get worse. Think I’ll be looking for a new job real soon, and I would advise others to do the same.

Doesn’t matter if those 65,000 seasonal people got hired or not. They are cutting payroll in stores to less than 100% so the part timers get cut first anyway. They want full time associates to volunteer to use vacation to help. I used to never do this because I had so much to do, but I found if I stayed I never got my work done because I ended up covering the other areas. So now if they ask, I usually jump on it.

Our store manager got fed up with the direction Lowe's is going---down the toilet. He got mad and walked out. A kid in his 20's is store manager and he has only worked at lowe's a couple of years. Disaster so far.

“took our SPIFFS away” - that and commissions, bonus etc. seems to be the song of todays retail. 25 years ago one could live way above their means in a retail sales job with spiff and commissions.

Sorry to hear about your problem and in my humble opinion - get out now! Stay out of retail if you can. The ship is full of greedy companies who only look at you as robotic labor to cushion their bottom line.

Seriously screw DMs, Management and retail etc!

You can fool all of the people some of the time.

You can fool some of the people all of the time.

But, you can't fool all of the people all of the time!

Nice try Marv but you're being found out by all of the people all of the time!

Every employee here in NY at my store has had it. Even our supervisor is about to snap. We are so grossly short staffed that customers are screaming from lack of service, the pro desk is vacated because they are outside unloading trucks, and every employee has to load mulch daily.

If Marv wants to pay me $22.00 an hr to be a lumber CSA, Ill take it. And yes, I too will disappear, sit on my phone hiding, and do as little as possible because for years my work ethic was exemplary, and no one cared. Those who goofed off got just as many "perks" as I, if not more because they always said "yes". Even though they then walked away and did nothing anyway.

This new Lowes is absolute sh*t. Managers dont know what to do. They even tell employees "its all corp, corporate s---s and wont budget", and that they "wont hold us culpable for anything!"

LOL - no accountability means do whatever the f**k we want. Theres no structure. Its a free for all.

Good job brainless Marv and God Bless.

We were told 26 seasonal hires, most we have had is 8. I think most have either quit or been fired.

Most of the associates at my store are looking to leave. We truly have had enough!

I’ve been with Lowe’s for 15 years next month. I’ve worked as a driver, team lead, specialist, and now manager. I can’t take this place anymore. I for the first time in almost 15 years have applied for jobs outside the company. I’m hearing I’m not the only person that’s had enough. There is no constant any more. It’s change change change. I was a appliance specialist in a 60M store have a huge spiff allowance and the attitude of the store is worse now than when they took our SPIFFS away. Good luck to everyone out there.

Yes this summer is going to be a real sh-- show in the stores. Marvelous Marvin claims he was going to hire 65 thousand seasonal employees hired maybe 8 at my store and most have quit because they have to actually work!! Full time employees with knowledge leave and are replaced with part time who know nothing accept how be on there cell phone all day. Marvin hope you and the rest of your Marvetts get canned sooner the better so someone with a vision that does not copy everything from Home Depot can right the sinking ship and bring Lowes back to being the company it used to be when it really cared about it’s employees and what we stood for!!!!
