Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

The guys that just started are paid the same as I am

I imagine that there is a very small number of people working in retail that are satisfied with their pay, but I found that two of my new colleagues that started a couple of months ago have the same pay as I do. Also I know a guy that works for two years and gets paid more than me. I’ve been working here for 10 years and to see that p-ss-d me off big-time. Is that some sort of principle for recently employed folks to get paid more, or are they just screwing me over?

They raise the pay for new hires, and states raise minimum wage. The people who have worked for the company 27 years only make a dollar less then people qho have worked for 2 years

It is bs that someone that walks in off the streets can make more than I do and I have been there 10 years also. I know a few people that make 1.25 less than I do and only have worked for a few months. What's the use to staying ?

It is very unfair. Based on your comments, I would venture to say that you started the company in a capacity such as carts, cashier, or floor partner. All of those positions do not allow for previous work credits. I would also venture to say that you've been promoted to a fresh position. Last year the compensation for new hires in fresh, particularly meat processor, became very generous, especially if you have prior work history (and the type of work history is irrelevant - if you have five continuous years immediately prior to accepting a position with Sam's). Unfortunately, those who were with the company already, if you weren't hired with the new hire prior work credits, you will never receive them after the fact. This is why it's so critical for applicants to correctly disclose all work history. If you were making less than the minimum once the new pay plan had been implemented, you would've been bumped up to the new minimum. Unfortunately, that doesn't sit well with most people and is, ultimately unfair.

It's not you. They've raised the pay for people who get hired.
