Hilcorp gave $50k towards a new car (or $35k cash) to every single Hilcorp employee for hitting their 5 year goal. The following year each employee received $100,000 cash.

For the shareholders, for the royalty owners, and most of all, for the employees.......Change needs to occur.

Idea: find 2 or 3 people with good business sense. Give them promotions and double their salaries. They can do the CEO job for much less expense, and probably do it better.

While, yes, I would argue DL saved CHK from bankruptcy, but that's not really the point. Any CEO brought in after Aubrey would have done similar things. Would another CEO have BURNED $438,700,000 when CHK needed it most by forgetting to inform investors about the early bond redemption? Whoops. We don't see that brought up too often do we? Would another CEO attempted to buy "company culture" from Senn Delaney? Hopefully not, as the concept of buying "culture" and using 1,000's of productive hours pursuing an unending goal doesn't seem like a good use of shareholder money. Culture is ONLY created from within, regardless of what the Senn Delaney salesperson may have convinced you of. Culture is not picked off the shelf. LEADERS create culture. While I'm glad Doug "saved" the company - I try to think what he brings to the table that another qualified leader wouldn't be capable of bringing. That's the real question at hand. I really come up with nothing. Every town hall - the same thing: "This is a great company, doing great things, the people are our #1 asset. We have too much debt. We must bring down costs and produce more with less". Yep, we sure do. And NO, nobody believes you when you say the employees are the #1 asset, so just stop making that claim. There's no need to tell us when you refuse to show us. Meanwhile, the musical chairs of directors, VP's, and managers never stops. The leadership doesn't really understand what the teams do, the teams get little to no direction from leadership. The field loses faith that OKC can accomplish anything aside from giving timely excuses. I can't fathom that one of the highest paid CEO's in the business is completely oblivious to the fact that the company is largely directionless. I believe Doug's time has come and gone. I appreciate the hard work you put in Lawler, but I feel you could be more effective if you resigned and stayed south of the Red River. Forever. Your employees are no longer willing to follow you, your subordinates do very little to guide teams towards any objectives, and you're simply costing shareholders too much money. I'd love to hear any counterarguments.

Awwww did we hurt a “loo laid” drinkers feelings? So he buys his own tix? Great! How about keeping the dozen or so incompetent senior leaders and few really bad mid level managers that have cost the company millions.? Six years is a long time to get a ship turned around and CHK is still in the arc. The worst thing to happen to us shareholders is Icahn got bored. Someone needs to grill this hothead CEO until he cry’s uncle or goes to work for his brother.

Yeah DL “saved” CHK. Yeah AKM was corrupt. But the bottom line is the current team has failed. Period. There is no other objective measurement that demonstrates otherwise. To add insult to injury, they continue to be in place earning obscene sums of money. When does this end?

Ouch and stock tanked 47% last year and he laid off hundreds of employees while making more than big time ceos that actually grew their companies last year. Doesn’t add up but not much does at CHK and that is why they are at where they are poor decisions from top down with some really bad middle managers.

You are deluded if you think the man did it for anyone but himself. The movie in years to come will be very hard for you and the fellow cult members to watch.

No doubt he had an effect on OKC and built a great campus. Unfortunately for investors it was with our money.

Also ask yourselves if any of the above mentioned CEO’s would take the lead at CHK. CHK wouldn’t be a company anymore if it hadn’t been for DL and the changes.

What ever happened to AEP? I don’t see people around town wearing the pull overs anymore. It was worn like a badge of honor a few years ago and now people don’t even have it on their resume. They must all be in Australia working “the huge” opportunity they bought in to down there.

Yea, as you said, ten years ago....in a completely different environment. He also used his own money to fund payroll once when the downturn hit hard after being told layoffs would balance the books. He made crazy investments, followed rabbit holes and took chances but he did so with a hope of making something special for a wonderful company and its employees.
