A lot of people mention that they are overrworked with all the layoffs...but why is it that most of the people around my age group (20s) are bored to death? It's like there's a couple employees on every team who do everything and everyone else is doing mindless stuff like stuffing envelopes or sitting around pretending to be content while bored. I'm not defending this company or it's layoffs. All i'm asking is...am I the only one being stonewalled or is it like this for you guys, as well?

Same in our org a few people are overworked and are never rewarded on the contrary this company punishes smart hard working individuals and everyone else wants to take credit for their hard work specially those so called PMs and governance folks who lie to senior mang the whole time and get overpaid for doing nothing ...

The problem is that the "work related work" that I and many others get isn't even real work...it's b.s. stuff to continue putting bandaids on top of gunshot wounds... it's as if we are being punished for being too efficient. And no, I don't think expanding progressive skills that WE ALL should be working on is "wasting out lives"
Yep. If your manager has to tell you to do "work related work", you're next on the rif roster. Start looking and stop wasting your life.
It is absolutely like this where I work as well! Some people get more and more and overwhelmed while others have nothing to do! And it's not like management doesn't know so yeah I have no idea why it's like this!!
Tbh i do work on my tech skills in and out of the office but unfortunately i have a manager who peaks around and basically has sit-down talks with me about not doing AIG related work...and when i straight up say that I burn through everything (my productivity is off the charts) i get cookie cutter corporatist retorts. So fristrating
Build your LinkedIn network. Start scouting roles. Reach out or solicit mentors. Take a class and study at work. Leverage your free time. Don’t sit around swiping on apps or losing brain cells on social media. I used my time for my own development for 2 years (I wasn’t busy with work at all either) and now have a MUCH better job and comp. Get the most out of this company before they get you Out the door.
