Oracle is more toast than ever before - JB very clear in his letter that relational DBs are so yesterday and far from the best way of handling Big data sets AND that Amazon is developing other types of DBs. Hasta la vista oracle and LE’s fortune - it was fun while it lasted.

Dude - you don’t have another 3-4 yes at oracle, it’s tough but you need to face reality and get out - oracle is dead
Don't understand the venting either, it's so unhealthy. I left Oracle but I hope that the company manages to get out of this low phase. Needless to say that if Amazon and Microsoft finally dominate the cloud space, this will be bad news for the job market overall.
Management competence and compensation incentives, stock price, buybacks, earnings all related to health of company and business. Management has huge bonus incentive to get stock.price up,$60 trigger for options. All this related to need to cut costs by cutting people.
If you do not understand this, start reading business section of paper.
I'm here to learn about layoffs too, but yeah, people DO have to vent, some more than others. We are free to scroll past the vents and just leave people alone to deal with things as they will.
I would hope Oracle hangs on at least until I'm able to retire! Please give us another three or four years. :D

Just chill folks. I know your career and livelihood IS important to you and in all likelihood Oracle has wronged you, been unfair to you. But we his personal hate is hurting you more than them...
