Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

We are at a point where people are wanting to be next

No more talk about "I hope I'm not next, I hope I don't lose my job..." now we are at "Let me get out of this awful place as soon as possible if there is a nice severance package attached."

How long do you think it'll be before we are at the mass "Let me get out of here, period," stage?

I'll be sure to buy some popcorn for that...

Well, sadly, id estimate that 75% of those left are koolaid chuggers or locked in with nepotism. If your looking to jump ship, your in the minority.

People have always wanted to be next......at least the hard workers. The ones that were "gifted" everything in their career never want to be next. They just keep riding the lottery ticket winnings that is UPRR of nepotism and buddy system.

True. No sense hanging around being miserable waiting to get laid off.

I had a plan to move on, I took their money, I paid off my school debt and took a nice vacation. Engineer your lay-off, have your resume sharp, linked-in updated, warm up your network, and have a plan to get away. Finding another job was some pretty serious work but very doable right now. Don’t let them control your happiness. You owe them nothing but the work you are being paid for.

I was at that point a long time ago and did something about. Got a new job and left. I always heard MOP’s and managers talking about how they were going back on their seniority as soon as they got their bonus? Did they? No. Just talk. Eventually some of those same MOP’s were forced back on their seniority during layoffs. Why wait? The company isn’t going to get any better.
