I haven't been able to recognise a pattern in which they are closing yards and other facilities. Is there any logical approach to this or are they just thinning there they feel they can afford to. Anyone know are any more Union Pacific locations set for closure in the near future?

Yes. Productivity and dwell. Meet the goals or they’ll find a away to meet them. Mainly by cutting
Yes, there’s a pattern. If closing the shop can generate income, then it’s fair game to be closed. Don’t look at long-term benefits of that location or how much money has been spent there, only look at the real value of buildings, land, etc. If they can run their program without it and it can be sold, it could get shut down this year. Anything left at the end of whatever is happening next year might be safe.
My bosses keep squeaking about productivity and dwell. I imagine that has a lot to do with cuts.
In truth, I think the executives do a bunch of coke and then throw a dart on the system map.
Don't know either but my count our shop only has 16 engines on property out of capacity for 120.
OXNARD will be next
Serviced soon by 3 day a week hauler
Bye bye!!
i would imagine the locations that aren't as busy are getting closed. but who knows. time to find a new job and stop being a victim at UP. that place is for the birds.
