Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Being the best has become a liability

In the past six months 3 associates that have been considered the best performers at our club have been laid off. They weren't old folks, they were people in their thirties but with 10+ years expirine at Sam’s. Have we really become a company where being the best has become a liability to an employee rather than an advantage?

Most long term associates ended up being capped out , so 2% didnt apply. Get your facts right and stop talking thru your ass

Positions which long term associates tended to fill had influence on Shrink: Audit, receiving, claims, business office.

Long term associates also had wages an raises pre-2percent annual raise.

Removing those positions eliminated high-wage associates and those who knew best the effect not having shrink controls would have on profit and the annual bonus chances.

Corporate doesnt lose money if they pay bonuses out. And Clubs that aren’t profitable are closed or were converted recently. It seems they are trying to make these clubs unprofitable so they have an excuse for the shuttering or conversion of SAMS for the supposed long term health of the parent company, Walmart.

Market manager level & RGM level...They dont want anyone knowing more than them. Which is anyone who has been with the company 8+ years.... well, really just anyone in general that has a brain for business & people.

Their egos cant take it.

I do not know about those folks but being the best has always been a detriment. Most folks who are the best are not also s--- ups. So those who are the best get the most work oiled on them and get the least sympathy. Everything of responsibility falls on those who are the best and they are not allowed excuses. Whereas. S--- ups do not have to work hard or take responsibility at all. They enjoy the favor and " value" being heaped upon them. At some point as a best worker the camel's back begins to strain and eventually break. At the point the best begins to point out the lop sided treatment of the workers. They become the ones that management are glad to get rid of. Even thought the best are the ones accomplishing the labor the management would rather have poor labor and s--- ups than have the best and folks who point out the unfair treatment of the workers.

Also the best tend to stick it out through the ridiculous changes and expectations to become the long time workers with a bit better than most pay. And that makes them an enemy not just of the local management but also corporate. So corporate , with eager support from local management , hatch plans to drive out the higher wage earners even though the are the best workers and have been the ones who were willing to sacrifice to make the club function.
