It looks like they are not using a liquidation company and doing it internally.

It actually true! I was one of the posts below saying bs, but then I looked at the Golden age of department stores Facebook and say the screen shot of the ad! I am shocked the news outlets haven’t run with this. They have to be out of the building ASAP!

Good lord, another embarrassing failure for this company. All that money wasted and all that hoopla. I think I remember even saying that this isn't going to matter because the company is screwed. Guess I was right. Wasn't this suppose to also be the standard of the "smaller" format Sears that was going to "save" the company?

Why didn't the Oakbrook store have a mall entrance?

The store will close on April 28. A lien is being placed on the building. Sears has to be out by May 2.

There is no way that the store closing would not be anywhere on the internet

If there was a closing ad in the paper it would be posted all over the internet

This whole thing is bs

Michael Dannhauser has posted a screenshot of today's Chicago Tribune, it's a store closing ad for this store. This is posted on the Golden Age of the Department Store's FB page. The store is closing. As insane that sounds, they are closing the brand new Oakbrook store. Sorry.

Will this store make $1.4 million in profit this year to pay the back rent?

I can't find anything anywhere regarding this. Oak Brook is a company store. I'll believe it when I see it.

I’m calling BS. I searched the internet and couldn’t find anything recent. What I did find were pictures and advertising for the store closing sale when they shut the store down for remodeling. I feel sorry for anyone stupid enough not to figure out that those posts/pictures were from when they downsized the store. Please, by all means, post links for proof, otherwise BS

A blueprint for the company’s future could lie with a remodeled store in Oak Brook, Ill., that opened in October. At 62,000 square feet, it is about one-third of its original size. The shrunken store no longer sells consumer electronics and jewelry, although most other product categories are available. WSJ

Will Eddie pay the $1.4 million to keep the store open?

Re: The pics of closing signs on Facebook ... I looked and did see a photo of store closing sales at the Oak Brook store. However, this was from 2017, when the store temporarily closed for the downsizing/remodeling.

@YDaUqvY-2zan

It’s likely they may not want to negotiate with Eddie, they may think they can get all the money off of the estate. If they read the rest of the dockets they’d be better off accept SYW points because they’ll get nothing. Eddie might have given them a pittance.

There are Facebook pictures of the store closing signs. Wow. Can this company be anymore incompetent? Just search Sears Oakbrook on FB.

All the doubters are just clueless. We were given the official store closing notice at HE, but you won't believe it probably.

YDaUqvY-2bvj “If it is true, the press is going to have a field day with it” that’s as they should! We all should....it’s just another lie Eddie told to associates, stockholders and vendors. It’s just further proof of the shady dealings of the leadership of SHLD and their utter and complete lack of character and integrity. I hope the press serves them up on a silver plate.

I’m sure it’s not just an ad running in the store when they’re calling it a “store closing sale” inside the store.

1.4 million is nothing to Eddie

He will pay it to avoid the bad press

The store is not closing

Looks like the OP was right about the closing but wrong about "wasted money." They stiffed everyone.

If you search the sears bankruptcy docket you can see that old sears actually didn't pay the contractors who built the store and the property owner for rent. There's claims from about a week ago for $1.4 million from the oakbrook companies Looks like this is true. They are going to put a lien on the building. It's crazy that new sears can't come to agreement with them.

If there is no liquidation why is everything in the store 30-50% off

Are you sure that’s not just an ad running in the store?

Sounds like normal advertising prices

They would have to put a sign on the building to let customers know the location is closing

This store (Oakbrook Center) is NOT a Seritage owned store/property. If this is true, the press is going to have a field day with it. Unbelievable.

Everything is 30-50% off in the store right now. I’m guessing they’re trying to keep the closure hush-hush due to all the media it got for opening last fall, but yes it’s closong.

There would be something on the internet if this store was closing and nothing is out there so this post is fake news

Isn’t this a Seritage store? Remodel store, raise rent, lease to someone. Open smaller Sears Home & Life in cheaper rent with fewer employees.

The old company spent all that money. The new company can lease or sell a nicely remodeled store for a lot of cash.

Why is it that whenever someone posts bad rumors of bad news supposedly coming, everyone just assumes it to be true? And anyone questioning it gets downvoted into oblivion? Anyone remember “Black Friday will be total liquidation”?
