Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Don't count on severance

I see so many people saying they're staying in this mess because they're waiting for severance. Everybody seems to forget that severance is not a guarantee. The law does not dictate that the bank has to pay it. And I wouldn't be surprised if BNYM suddenly decided not to give it out anymore, or to cut it to ridiculously low amount.

Take that into consideration when deciding if you want to stay in this toxic environment or leave.

If your US based employees, you should really check Federal and your State laws as your making assumptions that may not apply.

There's other reasons to offer that sub package. They need to offer what they do. I wouldn't sign a release for anything less.

True. But where are you going when your 50+ years old. Nobody wants to hire you for the same reason as this place. The only thing that keeps the sub pkg in place is for them to avoid the age discrimination suits.
