God man anything Sears is going to do to survive is getting out of hand. I mean when my store was open it was 4 cleaning people. They came everyday for 4 hours than they got hours cut and they were 2 one day and 2 another. In the end they got so cut that some days (weekdays) it was one person 3 hours if not 2 people 3 hours. The store you could notice was looking like bad despite the manager was anal about how it looked. Not only that the building is huge and the bathrooms alone was an hour easily wasted (and despite our store was close we had some pig customers).

I am even more glad my store closed the cleaning crew would of been cut which means I would of been left cleaning bathrooms and mopping along with all the other sh*t I was doing for probably minimum wage (since the minimum wage increased). I might of even quit on the spot and knowing my SM even if he had the chance to keep the cleaning crew he wouldn't of he would of cut them off and thrown the work load to the supervisors/leads/coordinators. It would of been to much an insane 2019 in my books and I thought 2018 was horrendous enough.

In a previous post someone said 1171 has an 87 year old doing the janitorial work.

I cleaned the store anyway just to pass the time between customers. It wasn't difficult at all. I don't know why people are making this an issue unless they are elderly and/or disabled. I know that there were lots of able-bodied 20-30 year olds at my store who were just so lazy that they wouldn't even do half of what was in their stated job description, let alone clean. They liked to stand around and talk, play on their cell phones, or hide out in the breakroom or in their cars. Sure, Sears has its faults--there is no denying that--but a poor work ethic is another matter.

Is a store managers choice to have a cleaning crew?

We're a smaller store and all the employees stood up and said NO to cleaning the store and the bathrooms. Since they can't fire the whole store the Supervisors are doing all the cleaning. Love it. True poetic justice.
