Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I wasn’t offered to re-badge. What does that mean?

My whole group is in the part of the company that is set for outsourcing. Eve though I thought I was going to ge a re-badge offer I was moved to another department within Xerox. What exactly does that mean? Do they find my skills valuable and that’s why they want me to stay within the company, or am I just now a prime candidate to get laid off in the next round?

You have important process knowledge that they need. They will pump you for what you know and then let you go. Enjoy !!

I'm the same. I'm 100% certain I'll be laid off at a later stage. It's a case of which phase your name was on. I'm curious, though: are you in the same location as the rest of your colleagues who got rebadged?

I'm pretty sure our president "saved" his executive assistant from being re-badged. At least for this round anyway. So there may have been some play there in terms of who was badged over.

It means they didn’t know what to do with you right then.

It doesn’t mean you are safe, valued, special, well liked, a top performer or chosen for a special purpose.

You’ll eventually be layed off.

The selection procedure for my rebadging was apparently:

"eeny"

"meaney"

"miney"

YOU!

As far as I can tell, those rebadged had more to do with department and meeting a number, not performance or anything else. I was not rebadged, but I have no sense of security about being around next year at this time. I'm pretty sure I'll be "centralized" or "shared services" or just given the boot. I honestly don't care.

Either way, this is no longer a company I want to work for. Benefits are garbage, 401K isn't as good as it used to be, no pay increases, secretive environment, uncertainty, our local president doesn't give a crvp about us and my direct manager is useless. Oddly, I'll stay for awhile and watch it all burn. I'm weird like that.

Core Presidents were told how many people they had to rebadge and from what departments

Xerox did not care who, they just wanted a certain amount of payroll off the books

Badged or not badged, doesn't really matter, we're all at some point going to end up in the same place eventually, which is out the door!

Assume you were kept at XRX because you were/are valued.

What is your future at Xerox?

Is it an environment where you want to work, now and in the future?

It the work and the work load what you enjoy?

Do they pay you well?

Do you have a career path?

Are your benefits what you want/need?

Do you feel secure in this environment?

Does job security exist here or anywhere?

Rebadging had nothing to do whether HCL wanted you or not (as far as I can see). I know some colleagues who got rebadged that are close to retirement, some who got rebadged when they are young in their careers. Seems like there was no rhyme or reason on who got chosen and who stayed. I think Xerox just wanted a certain number of employees off the books and they decided by revenue generation locations.

I hear people talk about getting new titles or moved around for a better chance of making it through all of the cuts on the horizon. BUT positions and plans were submitted to HQ in 2018 so IMHO changing people around now does not matter with the already in motion process. They are not asking for updated org charts to save people. However, I do believe people are being moved around with good intentions and if it does work out and you are still here after whatever happens, happens, then no harm done.

Unfortunately for you, HCL picked individuals that would ensure their contract with Xerox would be successful. Those left behind will eventually no longer be needed by Xerox.

Yes, they think you are valuable based on your skills. LOL! Actually it was because HCL did not want you.

Nah it just means they will terminate you without going through the HCL intermediate step in the process. Sorry. Start looking.
