I work for a major financial institution after many years at Oracle. The company is paying millions of dollars in oracle licenses. There are a number of things going on here related to Oracle.

  1. Move to cloud, internal cloud, AWS, and Google. Oracle is not in the cloud discussion at all.

  2. A push to move off oracle databases to reduce license costs.

  3. Migration off weblogic and no more new weblogic licenses.

This bodes really badly for oracle moving forward.

Google Cloud is at least 3 or 4 times the revenue with Apple. More than $1B. Much bigger than AWS. And it should be. Google spends $9B with Apple in services so Apple does big cloud deal with Google to help offset the spend as part of BOT. Re: Oracle, you dont know what youre talking about. When Apple made the vendor decisions many years ago, Oracle wasnt really even an option.

Different physical datacentres.

Netsuite is being ported, work in progress.

All other SaaS runs on legacy Oracle infrastructure. I'm sure it will run on OCI one day, but not today.

With all due respect, why would they? Outside of Oracle, Oracle is not considered a major player. Just like IBM.

You could list just about every company in the world and say they didn't choose Oracle Cloud.

Especially global-scale applications like iCloud or Lyft. Does Oracle have a single reference customer that big? Even Oracle's own SaaS doesn't run on OCI, and iCloud/Lyft would require significantly more scale and availability than that.
