Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Freight

Is every other store out there just swamped with freight that won’t fit in top stock? My receiving dept is very hard to navigate through because of all of the freight and not having an overnight staff we don’t really have the man hours to fix it, plus we have gone from 3 trucks per week to 5 and occasionally a double truck Sunday.

There is a reason why you are seeing all this freight. This is the Technique Marv is going to spin to the investors for Q3 and even Q4 results. It’s a shift in assets on the balance sheet to show “Look at all the downstream movement on inventory, we are selling selling selling and going to beat Spring!” Creative book cooking at its finest.

Ridiculous does not do it justice. I am ready to send them a map of my store showing accurate square footage. If Ellison is going to load me up going into the winter what I am going to do when January comes and they start loading me up with mowers, AC's, grills?" I am chocked full right now. I used to get a pallet of flooring tile then one more to back it up. Now I have two on display two more pallets in top stock and five more show up. Nine pallets of one SKU of flooring? Three full bays gone. One item. The overstock pallets of toilets used to fit down one aisle. Now there is double that amount yet I didn't get a store remodel adding extra aisles to put all this in. Ellison is messy hoarder and needs to learn how to order efficiently. We have non producing items clogging our top stock. Why won't our DC buy back our air conditioners that don't sell? Nope, they just send the next year model out and let us hang onto the 19 pallets they over ordered for us last year. 19 pallets? That eats up 9 and one half bays. Had an ASM email me saying not to put appliances in the walkway spaces in the loft where we store appliances. I advised him to forward his email to our distribution center to stop sending us appliances that go to die in our loft. We pulled one out last week had been there since 2017. Inventory management is definitely something Lowe's has seemed to figure out. Don't even get me started on how they send us freight. Looks like a monkey trying to hump a frisbee. Are they just throwing c-ap in their? They lean a pallet of doors up against a fragile glass box? It would be funny if weren't my reality. It is one embarrassment after the other. Pallets all put in sideways. Pallets not stocked by aisle. Whoever runs our distribution center shouldn't. Appalling. My first week on the job this non sense would halt. Side stacks would be disappear. Portable thief handy racks? Go stick these $15 mini flashlights down the back aisle by insulation. Stick it next to clip strip with Exact-o knives so they can steal the knife to use to steal the items in our side stacks. Genius.

Different point of view from employee turned customer. (Left in February). I was trying to by a storm door. The entire aisle was blocked with c-ap that wasn’t storm door related. I decided to come back later. On the way out I saw two more aisles that were blocked as well.

I stopped at Menards on the way home and got same door style. (My wife didn’t want to wait).

So Marvin, if you care, I quit because of your new policies and bought somewhere else for the same reason.

Double trucks at least twice a week with a 5 man night stock crew (that includes the NS department Supervisor), freight thrown anywhere without regard to safety in topstock, leaving the day people to down stock and work IRPs rather than sell, sidestacks clearly marked with dates a month out being put on the floor to sell thru now, and the list goes on. It’s beyond ridiculous because there’s very little to no hiring going on so we also have to continually deal with Code 3s and 50s. Don’t mind staying busy at all, but it’s utter BS that the day people have to do night stocks job and then get griped at for not working sales during Power Hours. We’ve also gone thru two ASAs already, and filling Dept Supervisor positions is like pulling teeth because the SM is using those empty spots as incentive to people he will never promote and not filling them saves him payroll to burn because they can’t control OT by drivers who are clueless and lazy.

We have no more top stock space in our store, so any side stacks that come in are opened and put on the floor no matter what the date on it is. My question is, what happens when we start getting Halloween product at the end of July, and Xmas product in August and September? Well it looks like the dumb—s SM should have gotten those Pods to put the excess in, but that would have cut into profits and his bonus.

Any of that extra freight exterior paint? I don’t have enough on the shelf and nothing in top stock.

Hard to do things when the order from corporate was to use fewer man hours each week than we did last year, but keep hiring more people for the Hundred Days of Hell.

more freight than ever.....supervisor over back end cant work any overtime....cant get properly staffed. the whole team is asked to do the impossible. Someone must have told marvin all that product isnt free and now its cut, cut, cut to make up for it.

I remember when they took away the ability to order most products from managers because they didnt want us over ordering. The new automated system was suppose to be smarter than we were.

I use to order 100 of a certain vanity and be out within 2 days of getting them. After the system change we got in a fraction of the amount and couldn't keep up with demand.

You’re not kidding. I have three times as much top stock as I normally have. We are at a loss as to where to put it all. And it just keeps coming! I have some product that it will take me years to sell based on previous years sales. I understand the need to have sufficient product in stock, but it’s not just a matter of having enough stock, it’s having the right product in stock. They don’t seem to get that in NC. Stop flooding me with useless product!!!!

Its absolutely ridiculous.

My favorite is a pallet with 5 boxes.

5 boxes of vinyl plank strapped alone to one little pallet.

I can't f---ing take much more.

Marvin is the worst ceo ever.

A--hole.
