Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford has no loyalty towards its employees

Ford has no loyalty towards any of its employees. Ask 100 thousand Ford employees who were moved to Visteon & lost their pension benefits. Those who were hired back from Visteon to Ford came in as new employees with no pension plan.

I am just so happy that Ford ship is sinking.

Your options in today's world are either go work a small company so you can feel like family and get paid a lot less or work at a big company and accept that you are disposable like every other employee. If you think all the other large companies operate like Families then you are severely out of touch.

What is discomforting about the Fords layoffs is that they never seem to learn from their past mistakes. In addition, they never root out the problem - the career Ford politicians whose primary skill is manipulating the Ford system to build their own fiefdoms. We all know who they are and we all see the game being played.

No one would begrudge a company doing the right thing.

Unfortunately, you'd be hard pressed to find a company that doesn't resort to the occasional reorg/layoff. As bad as it may seem, I think if you read through other company boards on this website, you'll get the idea. If you think there's another company/industry that's safe, you'll probably be disappointed.
