I would like to get some experiences from folks that actually moved to other companies in the business after working at VZ, if there are any on this board. Also some confirmed stories would do fine to. Is the grass really greener on the other side?

The grass is way greener on this side. A post from thelayoff.com/at-and-t
“My guess is they're dying to finally reach a point where they no longer are required to fund the pension plan.
Some MBA has figured out that the fewer people remain on the pension plan, the less funding they have to keep in it. Once you get rid of everyone who is grandfathered into it, you don't have to keep it funded at all.
Is my theory on why they're specifically targeting certain folks. Slashing and burning some of your best employees because of where they work ( which is company mandated btw ) makes absolutely zero sense.”
If you work in IT, you are subject to outsourcing or offshoring, no matter WHAT company you work for.
Working in health insurance (IT) much more laid back
Telecom companies like Verizon are out and Healthcare is where to be. A phone and a call is all telecom is about.
I wouldn't know. I changed careers. Anyone who is offered a EISP, VSP or severance and stays in telecom is a fool. The industry is on a downward slope with no end in sight. Layoffs are the norm unless you go to T Mobile. But the day T Mobile's growth stops, it will be the same story.
Take your skills, take your experience, and go to a different business.
OP: why do you ask?? are you working for VZ or not?? are you over 50+ or under??
are you VZ rebadged to Infosys (ESP) or VZ VSP??
gender: female or male??
are you seeking IT work??
are you Asian-Indian??
are you a H1B Visa Status??
