Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What fools.

I was laid off (or as it was described to me) became part of necessary downsizing at BNY Mellon in 2019. I don't miss a second of this foolish Company. The Department I worked in was full of people who had what appeared to be impressive titles, but most of them were full of fluff. They were given Supervisory Titles, but supervising was the last thing on their minds. All they cared about was speaking as loud as possible in this nonsense open office environment right in front of their immediate Superiors/Executives to give the impression they were passionate workers. When immediate Supervisors/Executives were not around, it was time to get back to searching the Internet and chatting with friends on the phone. It was so obvious to me, I had trouble not laughing out loud at their obvious performance. When they needed to actually do their job and supervise, they looked and acted beyond annoyed. This stupid Company did me a massive favor. I hated being there. I basically despised most of the fluff around me. I took their SUB payment and unemployment and kicked back and relaxed for awhile before getting a new job. Such a sad, depressing place to work. I can only hope the few I cared about that still work there get out and find true happiness somewhere else.

With all the layers in Banks there is so much fluff the only ones who do the work are the analysts and the contractors. I worked with an ED who played video games on his phone 3/4 of the day and no one called the person out.

Sounds like any company. You'll see your new job will be just the same. It depends where luck brings you relative to the Bell curve. Could easily be in the mediocre side or maybe in the middle and unlikely on the right side. They are few of those left.

Just as bad as the loud mouths on the incessant conference calls. THEY are the only people giving voice to any issue, etc. if a regular staff member speaks out, they are shut down quickly.

cqr- sounds like the pathetic excuse you all keep pushing. Sorry, but you have no problem pulling the "manager" card when it suits your agenda and you want to push off those assignments or take care of your buddies hanging out at your desk all day. Everyone does know this.

Sorry, but newly appointed “managers” are not permitted to manage. They still have their old jobs, and the charts are to meet company requirements, thats all. I thought everyone knew this with the “spans and layers” layoff/reorg.
