Why are there so many jobs posted in the careers section if they are laying off so many people?

Cheaper is the American way. Not complicated. You are not a human being. You are an expendable cost item. And in almost any industry unless you're a doctor and save people the older you get the more you cost salary plus bigger vacation plus bigger health insurance risk. So you're a cost that needs to be addressed. That simple.

They want to show that with low.corporate tax , they are hiring more , but what they are doing is replacing high cost , older workers with low cost younger workers.. I knows its sad but true !

Strategy is to fill jobs with low wage employees...

There's so many jobs because no candidate is willing to accept the position for the low salary knowing how bad things are at this company. No internal person will transfer knowing they won't receive the salary for the position for a year. They can only bring in contractors at this point since no one is taking those jobs. Our company is barely getting by onboarding and servicing clients with the contractors' lack of knowledge. Total mess.

my guess ... they're required to post everything, which in most cases, is just a formality since the bigwigs already know exactly who is getting the position.

Turnover. They have done this multiple times since I started here. They lay a few off. Hire a few more. I think a larger layoff is coming though. More managers, planners and support than the workers who actually do work. I'm sure you could cut 10 to 20 percent if they really wanted too. Sure us who are left will be over worked and stressed. But if you can't cut it, then you will be on one of the turnover layoff waves.

Charlie and the management below him believe that people are part of the problem. They want their own people on the ground. They complain the existing people can’t execute.

This contributes to the high turnover but does nothing to fix the problem because the problem is in the business model itself and managements lack of understanding.

Obviously BNYM has to replace the people who were below expectations with people who meet expectations.
