Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

100 days? Whats that? Mad foot traffic but.... NO OT! Walk out on customers. Good policy.

So, Im a 10 year + Lowes guy. In all those years. NEVER once, have I seen hours cut in the 100 days. Actually, this year I havent heard the term "100 days" ONCE! By anyone! Meanwhile, we have MAD foot traffic, we are short staffed to the bone, and customers are not being helped.

To make it even worse, Corporate mandate came down and all the brainless minion, empty-suit, dipchit managers started reiterating this dictate like the unconceptual parrots they are, stating "no overtime". Instead of helping customers, these dimwits are more focused on OT, than sales!

We have been told to literally, walk out! WHILE HELPING CUSTOMERS!!

So, if Im making $20 an hour, 1 hr of OT is $30. The last 3 days, Ive had to cut because I HAVE BEEN HELPING CUSTOMERS!!!! And every day, my manager had me leave and walk away from LARGE SALES. Sales that 5 days later now are not completed, and customers are fed up. 3.5k, 6k, and a 14k.

So I am to leave, to save Lowe's 30 bucks, instead of putting thousands into the register. This is insanity.

Now, they say if you have time to cut, you must come in late and be red boxed. They wont change your schedule, and just say its ok that you are red boxed. Why would any rational person ever stay at all in this environment?

Clearly, Lowes is broken at the corporate level. Ever since this dumb MF'er took over, the inefficiency has skyrocketed. He has everyone focused on the small chit, the minutia. Such as writing hand written signs, sweeping, and doing EVERYTHING except helping customers. Then a-hole man has the nervbe to send emails saying customer focus is #1 priority. How? We have no staff, and the staff thats experienced and cares is being sent home, or tasked culling furring strips during impact hours!

Impact hours? WTF are those? Instead of helping customers, every day during the busiest hours we have aisle blockers up, and contractors cant even get their sheetrock and supplies. Forklifts are flying around "striping" concrete for no fkkn rteason!

Seriously, Lowes is fkkn romper room, with mo--ns in charge. They take your money, then vanish like a fart in the wind. Nobody cares. About customers or employees. If you believe they do, you too are kool aide slurping, and a dipchit. They take your money KNOWING, they have no one to follow up or serve you in any way.

Just go look at this:

This woman is in my market. Or neighboring. Same DM, same corp guys. And my store is 100x worse.

Lowe's is a ship, lost at sea, in a storm, with no steering wheel and a crack head as the captain.

oh yea, the MST team has UNLIMITED OT.

So corporate sees a clean store more of a priority than sales.

They have lost focused, and sinking.

This and most companies are run in a way that pleases stockholders.

Think about it, cut a thousand jobs and stock goes up. Cut a thousand more and it goes up again.

Stockholders, and corporations as a result, view employees as an expense. The winning strategy is to see employees as an asset required for slow sustained growth. Explaining that employees are an asset requires true leadership. We don’t have that asset at corporate right now.

No one gets time and a half pay for OT anymore. It is straight time.

We are entering uncharted territory. We are literally paying more attention to numbers in Kronos than the customer. This is an all out attempt to show how great the new regime is when earnings come out for Q1. They say to focus on the customer but give literally no support to make this happen.

The amount of freight coming to our store is literally creating a huge accident waiting to happen. They are dumping on us with complete disregard for how much actual free space is in our locations. It's all about to culminate into something I can't quite describe. Get ready to be worked to the bone over the next several months.

The morale in the store is abysmal and when you dig really deep you realize corporate could not care less. They are grinding employees to the verge of quitting in hopes that they do and can rehire at a less hourly rate. War of attrition. The poor ASM's being asked to work 60 hours a week and barely see the outside of the store. It's one of the most unhealthy work environments I've ever seen. We are about to lose some real top tier management at my location and its going to be devastating when it happens. Even worse the less capable ASM's will stay because they can't do better.

As for me? I'm out ASAP. What's happening is pure negligence.

As the Lead Stocker on the night crew we have all been told that we can have no overtime, but been told we don’t leave until all the freight is done. If you aren’t going to pay us to stay, I guess we will just leave the excess freight on the floor for the day shift, and go home. We will be paid for our time.

Face it, the stores cut hours because there must be a bonus for the regional managers and store managers. If there wasn’t money for them they wouldn’t care.

its truly scary how much they focus on payroll. so what if its an easily controlled expense...it also is small peanuts when you drive sales. pinching pennies and losing dollars. theyre so overly focused on payroll that theyre refusing deliveries to go out once the drivers hit 40 hours!!!! WTF are they thinking!!! you schedule deliveries...customer makes the arrangements to be home and then because corporate says so...you have to cancel deliveries!! get the damn customer taken care of! you have taken the customers money....should we also assume all these deliveries are going to be pushed out past quarter 1 just so he can win his pissing contest with home depot???? the man is no visionary...hes a disgruntled ex who wants to get back at his old girlfriend AT BEST!!! my family lives by a motto that if a retail corporations pisses us off we immediately pull our business and take the sale elsewhere just to stick it to them.....i can only imagine that this is going to severely hurt quarter 2 even if he allows the cuts in hours to rebound to where they should be. marvin and his cronies need to be federally investigated. it becomes more clear by the day that his intentions are not to run a successful company. he at best is massively gambling that lowes actually is comparable to depot in the earnings report and this causes a wave of investor support to lowes. problem is....if he so severely hurts relationships with customers....the sales impact the rest of the year will completely wipe out whatever is gained by all these foolish cuts. perhaps hes doing this for his buddies knowing they plan on cashing out after this quarter......

Look man I agree 100% but at some point you got to let them learn the hard way, quit k--ling yourself and just go in there and do what you can .remember at the end of the day it isn't about sales it's about keeping your sanity

the funny part is that some of us are actually scheduled more than 40 hours next week. We are one of the new test markets for the new scheduling matrix.....and it ain't good
