Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Set scheduling

So at my club most of the full time old timers (people who have been working with the company 20+) years have a set schedule) Mon-Fri 7-3:30 Sat and Sun off. I’m full time as well but I was told that I have to have open availability and that I could not request to have the same days off every week like everyone else. Is it true that full timers can’t request to have a set two days off ? Should I call HO?

Not really helping the club succeed if you haven’t contributed at all during the days where the club gets the bulk of its sales. Hate to say it but if something like this weeds out the people like you the company is better for it. And I’m a long term associate who has worked across every shift.

Not sure what your position is but you can be replaced by someone who is able to benefit the club during the times the members are shopping.

Weekends may be overrated to you but to me that is my family time. I haven't worked one in 24 years. My family is my world

Weekends off are overrated. Nothing worse than having the weekend off, knowing that the 6 in a row you will have to work coming out of the weekend will be painful! Weekend shifts go faster and do not drag along like a slow weekday shift with little going on to keep your mind from watching the clock tick away. I also find members more angry and hard to deal with on a weekday when there are no registers open and they can’t find anyone to help them. At least on the weekend, members are prepared for the chaos and just mumble “should have never came here on a Saturday...”

I could care less if I have to work every weekend. If I need off I’ll put in pto that I have like 7 weeks worth of a year. I’m an adult now not a 21 year old that needs to spend my weekends at the bars.

PPTO does cover both points on key event days. Do your CBL again

The Protected PTO hours will run out for associates, keep in mind that protected pto does not cover the second point for calling out on key event days. There will not be any 7 to 5:30 Monday thru Friday, these block schedules are set in stone. Have to have open availability, if not, then your services are no longer needed. It is legal, your terms of employment will change, if you do not sign and continue to work that is accepting the new terms and you will be expected to work your schedule. Welcome to the new Sam’s Club

Here’s a ideal how about we close every weekend and Monday - Friday 4am-12:30 that way everyone gets what they want. Oh wait then you probably wouldn’t have a f---ing job.

hey. can someone verify that seniority gets better schedules? is there anything written down that we can refer to? If our managers can they will hide from us the fact we get preference according to length of service.

Not right because most of the tenure calls out if they gotta close, now it’s like we’re rewarding them. Don’t get it hopefully I’m not the closer when everyone quits.

I have been with the company 27 years. I was told full time will get 2 days off in a row, and seniority will get pick of days. I work 4 - 12:30 (mornings) backroom team . Never 2 days off in a row and work Saturday, Sunday, or both every week. I recently asked for vacation twice, both times denied. I never call out or am late. We are k--ling ourselves in receiving and always getting in trouble. We get 3-4 saddles a day. Plus deliveries scheduled from 4-11. No trucks schedule for afternoon or evening. We are just told to work faster and smarter.

All TL will now work on Saturdays and Sundays. Get out while you can, this company is corrupt

Well it’s based on tenure so you get in where you fit in based on that if others that work longer then you fill the set for back to back days then you can’t. Doesn’t mean they are being unfair just mean seniority took the shifts first
