Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Thinning the headcount at Cloud

I’ve seen that a lot of cloud folks were also impacted by layoffs recently. Does that mean that Oracle made peace with the fact that they were inferior on the cloud market and is giving up on chasing the competition? If they had any ambition left in that segment, I imagine they would need to treat knowledgeable people at Cloud like pure gold.

Knowledgeable people are used and disposed of. They are intensely resented by the incompetent a--holes in charge.

Bullet 1: if the revenue of your department is 'flat', they cut HC to make it profitable.

Bullet 2: if the revenue of your department is 'low', they won't invest more money.

Bullet 1 buckets: Solaris, ZFS, Tape, OCI-C, peoplesoft, any legacy software that still makes tons of money.

Bullet 2 bucket: OCI

So where the money goes?

Buy the stock back, make the stockholders happy...

“...still selling support that can't be delivered....” and “...old news”. Oh so accurate and true.

What competition? Oracle never made it to the ring. Oracle at best just one of the audiences at the front row talking big. Cloud already at the peak a couple of years ago. The very few existences of competitors are clear and the market already saturated. Join them or else is the best bet. So, it is pretty clear that Oracle is not at the stage to even declare .... giving up since they never officially made it in the competition.

Calling Oracle cloud "inferior" is almost a compliment. It's the frankenstein+walking dead of technology and is barely breathing. Everyone from Gartner to independent reviews label cloud as number 9 or 10 and that alone should tell customers how bad it is. Surprising that analysts recommend the stock without doing any research or talking to customers. Are there any Oracle reference accounts for cloud? Logic would tell you that they should treat employees who have expertise like gold - but when did logic every come into play with the 3 stooges?

Why yes, didn't you see the press release saying " We su***k and are giving up" ?

You don't know anything about LJE and the clowns on the BOD if you think Oracle ever gives up their story. They've failed with so many products and just keep chugging along, selling whatever they can, but always treat some groups better than others - depends on who's best at lying and blowing smoke up their a$$$s. No one cares about knowledge or expertise - just look at the state of on prem support and how bad the reputation is - still selling support that can't be delivered.
