Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Let me explain

Block scheduling is a good thing

Front end is 6-230 or 1-930

These are full time shifts

This and only this is what a full time front associate will work.

Desk too

Part time can also work these if shifts available

As of now part time is not on block scheduling

Then shifts are picked on seniority

So I have been there 19 years

I picked 6-2 mon.tue.wed.thur..Saturday

I am off every fri and Sunday

I know in Dec or when ever what I work

This has made things alot easier for family plans

Then the next cashier with tenor gets their pick

And so on

No weekends off for anyone in our place.

So at 6am

We have 2 desk associates

2 cos

2 club pickup

2 cashier's

They're full time

We are doing price changes

Go backs from night before

Windows cleaning pulling orders getting tills whatever is needed

It's ridiculous that anyone who works retail would ever think that having the weekends off is an option.

Block schedules are done Full time by tenure the Part time by tenure. Which means someone who is full time with 1 year of employment picks their schedule before a part timer with 25 years , Sorry that's the way it is.

Ok so question? I am a Part time mss and I prefer mornings. I have been working mostly morning with an occasional night shift. Once the "change" takes place will I have tenor to pick my days off?? Or does it only work for Fulltime associates?

In my opinion I don't think anyone should have weekends off every week. I don't care how long you've worked for the company. It's retail. There is long term associates who did'nt get first pick of which two days they wanted. Just my opinion.

The current information TODAY is this: specialty areas that have set hours (Pharmacy, Tires, Optical, Hearing Center) are exempt from block scheduling. Of course, it’s all subject to change...it always is.

@1fyp I'm note sure who told you tires/gas is not on block scheduling because it is. Desk position in tires is eliminated and the shifts for the depts will be morning and closing as everyone else. Long time associates get first picks.

It may be good for you as you get to take an early morning shift, but it's not "good" for the person who is now locked into closing every night and has to work every weekend.

So much for having a family or life.
