WSJ article on pulse survey results and employees' morale at Ford

Wall Street Journal article about the pulse survey results and the low morale (from another website since WSJ has paywall):

So official Ford line: all is pretty much fine at the moment, comparable to benchmark... although we won't show you the other results.

If you spent some time reading the comments the sycophant crowd showed up as well. Knowing full well that their comments had their ids tagged to them. You know the drill pucker lips, attach firmly to buttocks ;-)

I was surprised at how bad the results were. Not because the environment is so grand (sarcasm) but because people’s ids were tagged to the result. This came up at offsite social hour. There were 3 camps —- I did not responding because it was not anonymous, and I had nothing nice to say —- I responded and pulled my punches —- I told them exactly what I thought cuz I am sick and tired of the going’s on. The group consensus was that had everyone responded honestly the approval rating would be in the teens. Our group braniac did his statistical modeling thing to verify the group consensus and he thought it was a generous conclusion.

Quite honestly I do not know how a company heals after this. It will certainly be a long hard road. How do you go from 90+ approval ratings and the entire company pulling together as One Ford to a divisive leadership team with at best 20% approval rating in a few short years? The fall will be a studied in MBA classes as an example of how to destroy a company.

I was surprised by the Pulse responses . . . I thought I had written some negative sh--, but there were plenty of comments way worse than mine (which I did find amongst the rest). Best (worst?) part was how the percentages got worse and worse as you filtered for higher and higher levels. I guess the more you know, the less you like it.

I reviewed the survey. Most of the numbers were 40%ish favorable...worst I've ever seen. Hackit is clown who is only worried about his own obscene income. The executive sheep following (like Joe H., etc.) are just as bad. These guys hide behind their wealth for a reason. They are weak in character.

What a Crock “Ford confirmed the findings reviewed by the Journal but said responses to a broader range of questions show employee morale and job satisfaction overall remain strong, exceeding the auto maker's benchmarks, which track other companies.”

The subsequent numbers cited in the article by Ford were cherry picked by creatively filtering the results until they got a number over 50%.

If the company can’t even be honest about survey numbers that employees have access to, how do they expect employees to trust them with more weighty issues?

Dear Mr Hackett, this is the proper way to behave.

1) Publicly and truthfully Acknowledge the survey

2) Publicly apologize for the environment you have created, perhaps it was unintentional

3) Ask for forgiveness and guidance in how to do a better job

4) Listen

This is the most hilarious thing ever. First, they put a pulse survey that is not anonymous (they know who said what, so they terrified employee from filling this and getting fired for honest opinion). That survey probably filled only By the few guys on top. Then they claimed this survey reflect employee moral.

All i got to say WoW, if this is how we major customer satisfaction, the company is doomed

So true

For some reason it seems like Ford employees have difficulty understanding a former furniture executive who speaks in riddles. Strange.
