Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How bad does Chevron really want APC?

If I were Chevron I maight make a counter offer, but still lower than OXYs....then walk (or run). Looks like sleazballs at OXY and APC all have their hands in the cookie jar.

If OXY eats a huge debit death pill, there is no way we should buy it until it crashes and burns and all it investors lose their shirts... only then will it be again “attractively priced”. It is important to avoid a bidding war beyond clear estimated value in the heat of the chase ... that’s MBA 101.

Oxy is about to pay a serious premium for APC. The permian is the place to be at this time but every opportunity has value limits and every play has its time in the sun. At some point down the road, tough times will come and companies will have to recalibrate their balance sheet. Heavily leveraged growth will come back to bite those who over spend now. Chevron's offer was generous. Oxys is top dollar and then some. Buffet is an opportunist who in time will regret this move. Oxy will falter and have to sell off assests to cover their debt. Even the Oracle of Omaha can't be right all of the time. Only time will tell but $76 per share is rich.

You have no idea how low Oxy would be willing to go. They have a reputation for a reason.

OXY is leveraging hot air to make their offer. Let them join, their stock will collapse as investors see it for the ship wreck it is and start jumping ship a loss, and then make a new offer for the combined company at fire sale prices.
