Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What to do in the meantime?

Every day feels terrible. I want to say "hey boss, just give me a sign if it's me." I am probably gonna need psychiatry before too long, one way or the other.

What to do in the meantime? Your job, so others do not have to shoulder your load. You are still getting a paycheck after all. Give yourself 5 minutes a day to ruminate and then focus on your job.

today from cubeville. Got pulled into a meeting by supervisor and his team..

Listened to an hour of “I feel hurt because your team did my job for me. I feel hurt because you automated my job and my customers now just click a mouse and have their data.”

When asked when exactly they had planned to do their job, more crocodile tears.

Take one nice long sick leave and get paid. Look for a job while you are off. F-Ford.

I am exhausted and only been at work an hour

Life at Ford trying to get work done with other teams

  • Yo team A have you made any progress on our January request? — Er-no we haven’t — Any ETA? — Er-no we will start after the Smart reDesign is complete — Could you give us authority to do the work ourselves? — Er-no we won’t, separation of duties, job protection and all

  • Yo manager quit yelling and screaming at us for not having project done, we are waiting on team A. threatening to fire us, will not solve the problem. go yell at the manager of team A

  • Yo PM quit throwing our team under the bus to Sr. Mgmt. add the team A work into the project plan and cite it as a risk and road block.

Now it has always been bad but now a month delay on a simple request feels like it would be heaven. Yo Hackett, whatever you have masterminded has backfired. Things are 500% worse now in terms of getting work done.

Hey guys....a good therapist got me through the lead up to the GM layoffs. I strongly recommend finding one if you are really struggling. There's no shame in it and it really does help. Best to you guys and my thoughts are with you.

It is very stressful. I obsessed daily about it and no doubt drove my colleagues and family crazy. Honestly, the only thing that helped was to melt down about one day and quit caring and just go in and do my job. Updating your resume and LinkedIn also makes you feel like you have a little more power over your life.

Hang in there. You're not alone.

I did take time off and saw a counselor. I totally understand what you are going through. I have been with Ford for many years and have dealt with a lot. This was the first time I took a medical and sought out help. The company just doesnt get what they are doing to people. I know they dont care either. But the end result of their actions takes its toll on productivity.

I'm waiting for D day myself. Now I look at it more like... Give me the buy out and I'll bank that money and go work for a company that empowers their employees. There is life after Ford! Take your talent, skills and abilities and put them to use where you are appreciated for your hard work and efforts.

Better go see the doctor while you still have health insurance. Also think about taking a leave.

Ford is still a great place to work for most people considering job security around the world went out the window decades ago. They have to get leaner to compete. I’m wondering why they keep any $$$-loser SA or EU operations at all.

Why stay if you don’t like it? Wait out two weeks see if you get a package then take the summer off and get new job. Unless you have nothing to offer then in that case I’d be worried.

There is life outside of one company.

The dragging on is the worse part of all this. Well so far. Dreading Ford D day for the last wave. Everyone is on edge. F U Boston Consulting Group. This is the worst way to do this. Agree with an earlier post. This is not "smart".

Amen to that my friend. Almost seven months of this mess. I've gone from please don't let it be me, to please offer me a package so I can get out of this mess with a little dignity and some sanity. Back when Ford pulled up their bootstraps and avoided the government handout I was proud of my company despite the layoffs. This time around with the half-truths and dragging on and on I can honestly say I've lost all respect and loyalty for Ford. Thank you Jimmy!
