Voluntary layoffs?

Will they be offered? Any chance?

Every time I read someone say “don’t sign anything” I have to laugh. Sure, don’t sign and give up your severance. Do you really think UP’s lawyers overlooked some kind of loophole that gives you an advantage if you refuse to sign?

Of course there’s always this guy’s buddy who’s brother said his cousin’s neighbor is a former UP employee and HE refused to sign and it turned out to be the right decision.

Yeah sure. Get your severance and GET AWAY. Move on, the sooner the better.

"Voluntary layoffs""

Also known as "quitting"

Yes, they offer this. Check your original job offer letter. Your employment is on an at-will basis (for non-agreement anyway), and you can terminate it at any time. If you do quit, don't bother with two weeks notice. It does more for them than it does for you. Don't sign anything either.

Maybe different from what you’re asking but The last time they offered voluntary severance damn near every UP manager put their name in the hat. Only thing that happened was they let some older people take early retirement. All the field managers that thought they would get 6 months pay and time off to look for a new job got neither. Instead they just tipped off their bosses they wanted to quit. Not that that’s a big deal. At this point it should be obvious everyone wants to quit.

Doubt it. They haven't so far and with the numbers currently abandoning ship they won't need too.
