Block from a leads view

So got my 1 on 1 yesterday. All leads (tech, nights, center, and grocery) fall under merchandise services lead. We're all over the whole floor plus freezer cooler. Based on seniority, you will choose if you want 4 am or 3 pm and your days off besides sat and sun for our club anyways. You sign a new availability form plus your job description right then and there. The other full time non lead floor associates also choose the same hours and days. Part timers fill in the gaps from 12-2ish and they will not have set days off or schedule. In all honesty, I'm not sure of the purpose of it all. I try not to look in top deap with it all. All I know I will have a set schedule with set days off. I'll probably be at 4 am. I would like 6am but I'd rather be 4am than 3pm. Also there is an app coming out you can I guess message other associates to switch shifts. Not sure when that will roll out.

When the block Scheduling starts, freezer/cooler will no longer be a part of fresh anymore. So yes, F/C will be a part of the floor team again when it starts.

Not sure who told you about them covering Freezer/Cooler. But Freezer/Cooler are part of fresh and not part of merchandise leads responsibilities. I'm a meat lead and we take care of it.

Good. I’m PT in produce and I’m tired of constantly getting f’d by our lead and full time workers who never work weekends. I look forward to this change.

Mr. flawed theory, you do realize that you work in retail, right?

You are entitled to nothing, you have entered into a voluntary agreement to work for Sam’s Club. That agreement boils down to the company tells you what they want done, you do what they tell you to do, and Sam’s pays you for your efforts. No one is forcing you to work at Sam’s, you are free to terminate the agreement with Sam’s and find another job.

My higher pay scales theory is not flawed. I agree seniority should have the pick. But to tell everyone u have to work both sat. & sun is messed up. Everyone should be entitled to one of those days off. Many people in my club normally work open & closings shifts but to say u can only open or only close is not right. Think about people with kids who have to close 5 days a week including sat & sun when r they to c their family sure they can put them on the bus but u cant get them off the bus can't have dinner with them cannot put them to bed & u cant have a full family day on the weekend. We have a lot of long term partners & there r limited spots. This dictatorship is pushing to many 10 year above asc. Out the door. So to the person that said move on u were here b4 we arrived & will b after we leave u have my sympathy u must have a very lonely sad life outside of Sam's that u think its great for everyone to work fri sat & sun.

I mean you're old, useless, and over paid so of course they want you out the door. For now though they'll hide you on the cup cake shift until they can push you out.

Your “push higher pay scales” theory is flawed. If anything, this new system rewards long term, and most often, higher paid associates with their first choice of what is available. For years all we heard was how favoritism is so rampant, the managers favorite associates get all the weekends off etc, now the system says you go by seniority. Seems like that makes the decisions much more cut and dry, it’s not a perfect system, but neither was the old way of scheduling.

Now that most everyone will be working on our busiest days (Fri,Sat,Sun) I can’t wait for the help! If you are a hard worker, having almost everyone working all weekend will be much appreciated. For the mouth breathers that are world class complainers, how about you move on to another company, I was here before you arrived, and I will still be here long after you are gone and instantly forgotten.

I was told in my 1 om 1 that merchandise leads are over freezer cooler anyways. I believe jewelry is considered merchandisers under the new coding

So you should be a 12ish to 3ish associate.

So the purpose of this is to push higher pay scales out the door so they can bring in people a lot cheaper. They will bring in more part timers & give them 1 hour less per week so that the part timer is not entitled to benefits. Dirty scumbags!

Is Block Scheduling for PT people also? We have no jewelry team lead. Where does a PT jewelry associate fall in this new system?

Freezer cooler falls under Fresh Services so Merchandise Services Leads do not have this responsibility. Responsibilities are clearly defined in the toolkit.
