Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Well anyone whose plan was to stick it out for severance may want re-evaluate that plan. No severance will be given.

Severance isn't really that much money. What is it, 9 weeks of pay? That's chump change in the big picture.

Ride it down than retire, when you get bored somebody will give you a job in the patch if your worth a darn.

Way too many people think they are going to get a severance package and that ain’t going to happen. If they do give something it won’t be much.

A person is way better off trying to find something new while they are still employed. Way more power negotiating a wage when you have a job.

What happens if you don’t get a job for a long time after being laid off. You’ll be more desperate and likely won’t get what you want.

The company hiring will low ball you if you don’t have a job and that one time severance will be be nothing compared to years of lost wages.

Also best to leave now and start accumulating vacation entitlement and seniority sooner.

Way less competition for jobs if you don’t have to compete with all the layoffs.

And you get to walk out with your head held high.

Yes if they go bankrupt, definitely no severance.
