That's right and I am untouchable.
Step 1: Ignore the direction or task given in email
Step 2: Go to tier meetings and smile and nod yes and make a suggestion for improvement every 3 weeks or so
Step 3: Go to managers meetings and look engaged taking hand written notes as if you are interested but ignore direction
Step 4: When managers calls a 1 on 1 meeting simply decline because you have a customer issue or in Honeywell culture a pressing functional meeting that overlaps and mention staffing being down on head-count
Step 5: Keep your calendar blocked out and wait for your managers boss contacts you and speak positively about your manager but have a long pause before you answer
Step 6: If you have direct reports manage them with an iron fist without and communication with your boss without a bcc and inform them this is the way it is
Step 7: Wait until your manager is on a PIP as they will begin to work extra hours and weekends
Step 8: Watch your manager perp-walked out the door and try to shed a "crocodile tear"
Step: 9 New Manager arrives, kiss but for 60 days and constantly tell them you are so happy to see them and that you love this business because you have been here so long. Wait until a 1, 2 or 4 block rating
Step 10: Begin to repeat the process which is every 2 to 3 years at Honeywell. I guarantee you your manager's boss does not have their backs and will throw them under the bus each and every time at Honeywell. It has worked for me the last 30 years and I always get a big raise and take off as much time as the system max will record.
