Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

This was all done for one reason

Forcing tenured people to quit so they can rehire people much cheaper

This! So much what @YQbUyOE-szr said. How many people do you know who are already talking about leaving because of the new schedule? Severances are too expensive, this solves all of their problems easily.

Shameful.

Even though many of us are affected negatively by this change, most long term associates and a few others are getting exactly what they've always wanted. Set hours 6am-2:30pm, full time (thinking of our club and a MSS and 2 desk associates [over 20 years each] that couldn't be more happy with the change).

We already had trouble hiring people before this b---s---. Now we are losing so many people.

Are you stupid? The long term people making the most amount of money get first picks of the shifts they want......

They will not find anyone to hire with there new schedule. It’s the beginning of the end for Sams Club.

So wait it out. Bide your time and watch your step. It's only a matter of time. This is all a strategy to weed people out before closures.

They are paying severance mostly to those long-term associates, you know the ones I'm talking about. The associates that always come in when called, rarely call off, work every holiday, work weekends, have pride in their job, integrity, show respect for others, and have giving many years to this company. They are called long-term associates for a reason. They are also a dying breed, these new hires will never reach a long-term status.

I highly doubt that is the reasoning seeing how the associates who have been with the company the longest get first pick in their schedule and days off. I also know that we hire in most for far larger amounts than we are currently paying our associates whom have been with the company 10+ years

I believe that it is true. They want to squeeze out the long term associates. But I think their strategy just may back fire and it will be the new hires who will leave. This company is going to self destruct. We may stay until the bitter end but I don't know anyone who feel any sort of allegiance to this company any longer.
