Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Block scheduling

I think this is Sams way of gettinf people out without having to pay unemployment or offer severence. These new hours for block scheduling are horrible. I dont see how they can expect people especially who have kids and families to work those hours. I personally am not effected by it but I cant help to feel terrible for those who are. I really do think this is a way to get people out. I dont have any inside info and would never claim to so I dont want to be attacked for my opinion. Yes this is just a stupid job, its not like we are saving lives here but people who may not have the oppurtunity to get another job right away...or have been with the company for so long that its all they know...those are ones I really feel for. They have been loyal and hardworking (ok, not all of them lol) and this is what they get in return...hours that are not liveable. At this point, your best bet would be to get fired so you can collect. Corporate greed is a mother fcker. Yes times are changing and they need to change with them...we get that this is a business and it needs to make money. But be open with the employees. Let them know whats going on. We come to a fcking layoff website to try to get info that should be open to us. I hope everyone that is effected by these hour changes negatively, winds up somewhere so much better than here making more money.

Block scheduling is not a bad thing but I dont understand why our schedules are either early or late. If they would allow us to work a combination of early and late it would be so much better. Just my opinion.

At least apply for other jobs. Go on a few interviews and ask questions please. Find out what they have to offer. Maybe less money an hour is worth it if they have offer other perks. Like some weekends off. Let the others who are saying just quit then , go up front and be runners because they have no staff left. Stay if you want but at least look at other options, They are right we don't have to stay so check around. You might find something much better. If not you at least tried.

Believe it or not but people do exist that have worse hours than us, go to school and are a single parent that make it work. For people that have worked with the company for a long time... They just don't want to move out of their comfort zone. That's what all the complaining is about when you boil it down. Welcome to the real world.
