Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Clean slate

They’ve managed to force everyone to have open availability.

They’re ridding themselves of anyone with longevity, without offering severance, by cutting, combining, renaming jobs.

They don’t have to worry about being accused of discrimination against the disabled, or being ageists because the company combined the previous jobs with work the elderly and disabled can’t possibly perform.

They’ve managed to lower pto accumulative hours, so you never will have a day off. And people are afraid to use pto, because they might get sick. Best for a company if employees never take time off.

Miss anything?

I lost my position when my Club Closed. Been through several non starter jobs , nothing matched the money and security

of Wal Mart. It’s rough out here. Thank God

for what you have. It is a great company!!

You’ll only appreciate that fully should you find yourself as we have been, sent adrift.

Then you will finally understand. I hope and

Pray that you do not experience what me and my family have been subjected to over the past year and some months.

God Bless

Works the same way on Sundays. We close at 6, but after the new changes, you’ll stay and work the block hours.

yes, you missed the holidays. Christmas Eve, store closes at 6. If you’re shift ends at 9:30, you’ll work until then. Same for July 4th or any other holiday.

Instead of whining about undeserved entitlements like a child, how about providing for your own insurance, payroll taxes, accounting like a grown instead of letting Uncle Sam mollycoddle you your whole life? Kids these days expect employers to nanny them their whole lives.

Why do I get the feeling you live in your parents' basement?

"woe is me, I'm trapped at Sam's because my benefits are too awesome to leave".

I think the restructure of PTO is to force us to use it so the company doesn't have to pay out lump sums to those of us who like to cash it out. Holiday- use PTO leave more than 9 minutes early use PTO. Also, I need my paycheck and health insurance so I cant just find another job. Obviously you dont have a mortgage or children to support.

If you won't move, you're recognizing that Sam's Club is the best deal you can possibly get, and you're overcompensated for what you do. On average, there are 4000 retailers within 15 minutes of every Sam's. Really, what a bunch of choosong beggars.

Some people who have 15 + years in cant just go to a new job and start at min wage again . And possibly lose their medical .also the pto is actually the same it’s just a percentage of it goes in to protected pto the new scheduling is the problem , it’s that a lot of associates aren’t given the choice . Specially clubs with a lot of old time associates

So quit? It's an effin' retail job, not a way of life. If your life happiness depends on Sam's Club you sure took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.
