Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How are the layoffs conducted

The sheer waiting is painful and demoralizing- and we now have interns coming in a couple of weeks to watch this debacle. A couple of questions on how these are conducted.

Does security just come to your cube and ask you to pack up your stuff and go or are you just walked out immediately ?

Does it happen one by one or does it happen concurrently in the whole building ?

Text From FC - Meeting with mgr and HR before lunch; HR did all the talking; told am redundant; paperwork on package which included terms of severance, email addresses and websites for future info, outplacement services; asked for my badge, desk key, company equipment; walked to my cube; stood watching as packed up; walked to the door and told good luck; only thing mgr asked is what was working on and if could provide help if he called me; stunned said since redundant the coworkers would be just fine and if not the coworkers could send an email; he seemed agitated but heck what does he expect?

Seems like FC in Dearborn doing some layoffs this week.

I packed my stuff from my cubic. I seen before people let go and the amount of humiliation they go through while they pack their stuff as 2 cold security guards watch every move you do.

While they usually clear out the area (at least was the case before that happen). Of course with massive layoff it may not be the case.

We all served the company and no one deserve to be escorted out as criminal just because the company decided to reduce the staff numbers and i hope that is not going to happen.

My advice is pack your stuff, assume the worst. Look at the few remaining days as a gig that you will be paid for while update your resume.

Don't let the company in charge of your life. Take an action. You are in charge of your own life.

Taking my power strip the I bought too. As well as the other office supplies that I brought in from home when the budget for office supplies went to zero. Let's see if the guard will try to take those items from my cluched hands.

2wwe me too . No Kleenex, but do have a power strip because Ford is too cheap to provide a method to plug in laptop and monitors. Damn sure going to take that with me if I get walked out. Ford is so cheap they don’t provide basic office supplies (pens, paper, etc.), internet service (for oncall), phones (for oncall) etc. They even make employees pay for mandatory supplies for innovation showcases - yeah buddy, we all want to spend money that could be going to our children’s orthodontist on booths to present our innovations, done on our created on personal time all to benefit the LL5+ crowd . What tools, at a minimum the LL5+ crowd could buy the presenters a sandwich and a drink when they give up their lunch hour .

Almost all of my personal stuff is in the trunk of my car or home. I still have a box of Kleenex in my desk. If I’m still employed in June, I’ll bring it back.

I know someone who got let go and basically they walk you out and then will package up your stuff and send it to you. And from what I was told not only do they not care about you as an employee but they don't care about your stuff as it was just thrown in a box and many things were broken when they received their box at home.

My suggestion to everyone is to pack up everything valuable and an pictures and take home right away. Then you can be sure to get your stuff back in one piece.

Wouldn't that be great? Kind of like American Idol where they save certain rooms of people. How quaint...

I heard something similar to the first reply under this topic (at the bottom). Except that you get “invited” to different meetings, depending on if you get the boot or not.

It will depend on your organization.

One org the leaders met with people with HR rep present and package was given.

Another org HR and security met with people and walked them out after meeting.

One org security showed up at cubes while LL5 cowered in their office.

Either way make your peace with it ahead of time. If you get the tap then view it as Ford’s loss.

The OP posted a legitimate question and efy wants to be a dumb--s and post a useless not-funny answer.

Basically HR and the employee attend a meeting where package is handed out. Meanwhile security deactivates your badge, the employees CDS ID is terminated in all systems, and a FORECLOSURE sign is placed on employees cube.

Just kidding. They throw the employee a retirement party with $5M golden parachutes and free Explorer with Bob Barker as your host

-jkl. Sounds implausible given number of employees under a LL4 and also given the unwillingness of LL4 to have dirty hands.

Just heard this . . . on May 21st they (organization LL4+) will schedule short meetings with every employee, at which time you will be told 1) you stay in your current assignment; 2) you are moving to a new assignment; or 3) you've been let go, all effective June 1st. If you get unlucky #3, then you can either continue to work until June 1st to hand off your current assignments (who the f--- would pick this?), or pack your desk and leave. I've also heard if you are an LL, you have to drop off your keys and they call you an Uber (hopefully not a Ford) to get home.
