I really hope UP didn’t find some way to weasel some U.S. tax money by restoring this old thing. Some sort of b.s historical arts grant.
It will be mothballed and the steam team furloughed by the end of the year so it doesnt really matter.

You write a time claim and you wont get the money, it goes by the roster. Time claims also come out of another budget. The BIG BOY is an excellent public relations sight. That locomotive is an incredible machine rebuilt by our craftsman. Our pay is based on a NATIONAL CONTRACT, we dont get bonuses for more work. We are contract negotiated labor. Become educated before you spit garbage out. Times change and so do we. I love working on the engines and having PRIDE AND PROFESSIONALISM IN MY JOB. I do not agree with the management, but that is out of my CONTROL. If you want to change the way the railroad operates, become the CEO AND PRESIDENT. Other than that shut the f--- up. For the amount of work we actually do. We make damn good money. You are guaranteed 40 hours a week with decent benefits and a retirement that is far above what the outside has. Either QUIT your job shut the f--- up
Well my daddy didn’t get me a job but I think this guy is saying is that he’s is supposed to get paid for doing extra work and the company and union have agreed to pay him for the work as a penalty but then decides not to pay him for the extra work. I would be mad too if I went to work did a job and then was told I wasn’t going to get paid the amount agreed upon. Would you like to be short changed? I doubt it. That’s ok keep treating union guys like garbage and they’ll just go find another c-appy job. Last I heard railroads were having a hard time hiring and retaining decent help in some locations because people are learning that this ain’t your daddy’s RR anymore. Too bad daddy’s RR was a awesome place to work!

I am personally insulted by the sight of the Big Boy. I have had thousands of dollars in wages stolen from me because timekeeping won’t pay my legitimate time claims but they have money to pay for some propaganda POS that slows down the route that it traverses on. What a slap in the face! If they have so much money to throw away maybe UP could give out some raises and pay some claims or STOP cutting Jobs.
