Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What got us to the layoffs?

We are all aware that things aren’t looking good. I suppose we all made peace with the fact that layoffs are an everyday part of our employment at Oracle. The more important question to me is how did we get to this state. Where exactly did the company started to go downhill?

When all is said and done, the simple truth is that this is LE’s company and LE doesn’t give a sh-- about anything and anybody but himself and of course thinks that he knows everything better than everybody else - the narcissist that he is. As the saying goes: “God knows he’s not LE”; the reverser is definitely not true.

Couldn't have said it better. An arrogant company that believe they know everyone's business better than those that made it successful. Buy it and destroy it by alienating their customers and treating employees with contempt, whilst those at the top take massive 3 fold compensation packages in spite of not hitting targets.

Almost everyone I talk to is waiting for their severance package as we all know it's coming, just don't know when

You cannot cut your way to success and financial stability. Nor can you buy your way there. You have to innovate.

you're right, but you owe them exactly as much. You get what you are given, no more no less. If you are told you are nothing more han an interchangeable part then that is exactly how you are going to work. Simple enough for you?

Oracle Classic people won't like to hear it, but Oracle didn't have the vision or leadership to do anything else but continue optimizing RDBMS, which they were very good at. So for example when the "application server" started getting traction in the industry, Oracle rolled out a poor copycat "Oracle Application Server" that was cr-p. When Hypervisors came around a decade later and leadership noticed increased customer workloads on VMware, guess what, here comes mediocre and buggy Oracle Virtual Manager. When Eclipse catches on fire on developer desktops in the early 2000's, oh no, please say no, ... Oracle JDeveloper. The list goes on. Oracle has had no vision or leadership to do anything else but advance RDBMS. Which explains the acquisitions.

PSFT was a hostile took over. It was brutal. It just how Oracle (LE) run the business for decades. With that, there is no reason for employees to be loyal to the skumbag. It is all about money. Put your 8 hours, contribute as little as possible just to keep the job. There is always better places to go and give your best loyalty. How a company treating should expect how you treat them back. No hard feeling. Oracle treated the companies they acquired bad, no dignity, treat employees bad and threatening customers. It explains the downfall for Oracle. There is no turning back.
