Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Where is Oracle losing most of its money?

Lets face it. If we weren’t bleeding money on multiple fronts we wouldn’t be in a position that people need to be let go, good, productive people, that made a difference. My guess is that Cloud swallowed a huge amount of money and didn’t produce any real revenue? Any other opinions? Where is Oracle burning cash the most?

Everyone ages out and LE replaces.

At almost 75, LE is more interested in his new kid than Oracle and its employees

"Oracle wants to maintain that margin...they will cut until the desired margin is achieved."

This.

Oracle's margin and the hope that it will grow (or, at a minimum, be maintained) is the foundation on which its stock valuation rests. Stock is how LE, MH and SC make their oversized paycheck every year and how LE is valued as one of the richest people in the world. Given that customers are looking for ways to reduce their dependence on Oracle and don't consider Oracle a top tier Cloud provider, the growth isn't there. Therefore, cost cutting has become a staple of maintaining the margin and MH has been in his element in this regard given it is the only thing he knows how to do. Stock buybacks have been thrown into the mix to maintain or increase the stock price. As a result, the executives get to line their pockets and hold onto power despite a lack of innovation or actual growth. Meanwhile, the rank and file slowly lose benefits, don't get raises or get let go while the company shifts its focus to hiring lower cost labor.

If you want to see the same strategy in play, just look at IBM. With the exception of one quarter, GR has overseen years of declining revenue and a shrinking workforce while cementing her power and personally profiting from it all.

O is s---ing money from everyone and pretending losing money. That’s why they k--led sun, people soft, etc. but they never lay-off even one from Pilar.

O is losing money big time by paying TWO “CEOs” $108 million in performance-based compensation.

Between all the layoffs, R&D eliminations, and the stock buybacks, what kind of “performance” is it really?

We spent dozens of billions in buying back stock over last year. Also OCI is expanding and is burning cash mad.

Revenue of the hardware, perpetual software license and support businesses are declining faster than the cloud business is growing. To maintain profit margins during this transition phase, they gradually layoff tenured employees, and replace them with junior resources in global hubs, and through automation.

It is losing most of its money from the decisions LE made in the past and what the 3 of them do now.

Were you worried about your financial future over the weekend? LE probably worried deeply about you while he was out on the bay with his new kid watching his boats enabled by the glory of Oracle Cloud.

Overall, Oracle is making money hand over fist - read the quarterly reports. The revenue is coming in and is very profitable.

With that said the company is always investing in new technologies and it takes a while for some to pan out an have a pay back. Those that don’t payback get shut down.

"Given the many acquisitions, shouldn't one expect a steady increase in revenues and profits?"t at

Yes, you would in a normal company that has experienced people managing the acquisitions but Oracle has no clue how to integrate or retain value. We only buy up the customer base and bleed them dry with expensive support costs. and we never force the old execs to leave - we keep them and it creates chaos. Would like to see the actuals on what the ROI is for Sun, Tekelec, Micros.....

Given that revenues and profits have been rather steady, I wouldn't say that they are "bleeding" money. But it isn't growing, so the only way to raise profits is to cut costs, and that includes payroll. Many companies play that game, and the stock buy back game too. Apple is buying back $80B this year.

Stock buybacks. Oracle does not loose money, they are not making as much as they want. Oracle wants to maintain that margin...they will cut until the desired margin is achieved.
