Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Here's where GM layoffs stand after stunning blow to factory workers JAMIE L. LAREAU | DETROIT FREE PRESS

I spoke with the writer at the free press for along time yesterday , I told her that the salaried are talking a possible professional union is the rumor , she was very interested in that. I also told her about the contract people that did alot of work for GM for decades but never got hired , they had no severance nothing , some of us had 10 to 20 years. I also told her it's not always about the UAW but many more people that are salary and contract that are just getting tossed in the street , I say enough is enough , all of you that remain have a voice , form a professional union like Boeing's .

"Call the FP?", "Let the writer know?", "Make some noise?". "They" didn't care in February so why should they care now. Next week with the Ford firings it will be the same. When the Detroit Metro economy feels the affects of the GM, Ford and supplier cuts and their advertising sales are down then they might realize what has happened. A few glowing, positive articles. A few exclusives with the upper management and Jamie may get her big chance at the Ren Cen or Glass House. The media does not care about you. They care about their advertisers....and who are their biggest??? (not counting the ambulance chasers)

Let the reporter know that GM is starting to rehire in masses again...even the exact same people it just laid off. I know of at least 2 cases where that happened. How does that make any sense at all? Any shuffling of folks with valuable skills should have happened prior to the reduction!

Call the free press and make some noise ! , unless all of you left like the abuse and are glutton's for punishment.

Good luck. You do not have enough employees still working to make certification. This had to be done before computers, and Indian slave labor. The Indians do minimum quality work, but they are cheap contract wh--es.

Let the Free Press writer know that she wanted to write an article on the untold story of the GM layoffs, she could get a ton of interviews from folks on this site (assuming confidentiality was protected).
