How can you guarantee even a 4 percent return? Annuity???

4% return and you’ll never have to touch the principle. 6% has more risk and if the market goes down, you’ll take a hit. 4% return is like guaranteed interest, you’ll never lose money.

A fool who bases a financial retirement plan on the last 5 months is a fool who should not be listened to.

One tweet from Trump and you retirement funds take a big hit....you could lose a year's worth of gains...Check your numbers since the beginning of the year......believe me......

If you're getting 4% returns, what does the person managing your money do for a living. Every major mainstream index beats that longterm.

You are wrong @dtrm, and 6% is if you're conservative.

Who's managing, or mismanaging, your money drm?

@dvhl

A $120,000 return on 2 million is a six percent return. That is not “invested reasonably safely”. There would be a lot of risk to get that return.....a 4% return would be a safer investment. This isn’t the 1980’s where you could’ve gotten 8-10% by just putting your money in a regular savings account at a bank.

@dsjw, what was it like getting paid in silver dollars and taking a bike with that giant front wheel to work? Was A.G. Bell as bad a foreman as I hear? I heard Watson was a party animal.

You know, $2 million, invested reasonably safely, can draw you $120k a year without touching the principal. Then there’s social security on top of that. Why die here?

Well, I have 42 years as a splicer and had more offers than I can count. I will probably take an offer if one comes out but if it don’t I will work another 5 or 6 years. I have over 2 million between my 401 k and pension so I don’t really need an offer but I’m not going anywhere without one. At 40 dollars an hour and 401k matches I think I’m doing pretty dam good!

Lump sums can be checked on the about you page. Eisp is in the contract language. I havent seen it in the current contract but an did its $50k additional to the regular eipp and does away with any age penalties. Rumors of an eisp. Rumors about one coming out were rampant but stopped. We will fund out.

@7hnp having a meltdown:

“Gah! I’ve had to work hard every day of my life and what do I have to show for it? This briefcase and this haircut! And, what do you have to show for your lifetime of sloth and ignorance? Eh-EVERYTHING! A dreamhouse, two cars, a beautiful wife, a son who owns a factory, fancy clothes, and lobsters for dinner.

And, do you deserve any of it? NO!

I’m saying you’re what’s wrong with America. You coast through life, you do as little as possible, and you leach off decent hardworking people like @7hnp. Ha! If you lived in any other country in the world you would have starved to death long ago.”

The people in charge will not tell anyone in advance.

Heaven forbid us employees may be able to plan the rest of our lives.
