I can understand the CEO, but not employees. You do realize that it would come with major layoffs on both sides, right? Why would you want that?

the us is secretly courting Venezuela.all that oil up for grabs.....save your chevron stock investments, they will help out with the dividends when you retire.that 2,2oo a month dividend money and my social security helps me get by in my old age.
there is not that much oil left in the permian basin,,they dont want the world to know that..but i know the facts.
Hey @OP, I’m not in mourning. I’m celebrating CVX didn't go a bridge to far. No layoffs at Chevron.
As if you clowns know about high finance.
Chevron did right by not engaging in bidding war, but, was it the end game all along? APC would had been a great fit for Chevron but not at the cost commanded by APC. Honestly, I suspect that Chevron and APC had a thing going in the background. OXY had a way inferior bid for APC and APC needed it higher. They paid Chevron - or better yet OXY paid - $1B to get more from OXY. Smart move on both Chevron and APC parts. OXY sold their soul and they were out smarted. OXY now has to make this work, and frankly, I do see it.
I was hoping for a big fat severance check.
I don't know who you are talking to but I have not spoken to a single Chevron employee who is the least bit upset by the latest news. Oxy is Waaaaaay overpaying for APC. Mourning????? Get real. $76 per share is a bloated, rip off of a deal. Thank you Chevron leadership for not chasing Oxy into the abyss.
Anyone over the age of 50 at chevron is a target of being laid off. The anadarko deal just proves chevron is no longer a leader and lost at sea
Thick as rocks
Yay.....no layoffs for Chevron!! Good to see us let Anadarko go. This likely saved many, many jobs for us.
You are right op. I think a lot of people are naive to the fact that they would become targets. I’m always surprised that people don’t think about layoffs when talking to them.
They aren't, unless they are Oxy shareholders.
