Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

I’m PT, but I work 40 hrs a week

I’m in HMS and have been here less then a year. How many weeks do I have to work as many hrs as a FTer before I am made a FTer too? And how many hrs do I have to average?

What is the FT/PT ratio for the area you work in?

You have to be SCHEDULED full time hours too. You can’t just stay over a lot then demand full time.....in that case it could backfire on you, integrity issue. Gotta watch your back because they’re shady

@1uhh.. yes they do get made fulltime if their actual worked hours exceed an average of over 34 for 12 consistent weeks. Has nothing to do with their availability or scheduled hours for those purposes, only actual hours worked. Now they could turn it down but if they are working the hours chances are their availability is more open

What is your availability?

Going from PT to FT is not automatic. The same applies to FT to PT, there has to be a conversation and under the new system with Workday also a job offer.

The scheduling system is going to invoke the Red Prairie rules again. Meaning if you have limited availability you will see your hours drop and to get back to your required hours you will either have to work in another area to make up the time. Or call in everyday and hope someone calls off and a shift opens.

They only have to offer you full time. You don't have to accept it.

Lol. If you worked 40 hours for a year they should of made you FT. As a former PTC I was always on top of that and changed several PT associates to FT status. It is not fair to the associate.

After 12 weeks of averaging 34 hours or more you are supposed to automatically become full-time. Failure to do so can result in a fine to your store.

Chances are as you close in on 12 weeks your hours will be cut dramatically.

In CA, averaging over 34 hours a week for over 12 weeks, they have to make you full time. You would have to check your state law. Check with EEOC not internally because they will beat around the bush before they give you and answer. I was a PTC and they will cut your hours, have you take an unwanted extra week or two off work to get your hours back down, then make up a story and start writing you up for working over hours. All along the CM & assts were already aware. I believe its "company" policy if you exceed the 12 weeks averaging over 34 hours. Of course, we know company policy only applies to those the market manager and CM decide to apply it to. Call the ethics hotline, it will happen within a few days to a week if you qualify. All your worked hours are on record. If they dont, call or email EEOC.
