Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Why are layoffs done now?

I know they don’t need a lot of reasons to perform layoffs, but why did they chose this time to perform them? Wasn’t it more logical if they performed them earlier, aront the beginning of the year or in autumn? What’s the logic behind this timing?

Oracle Management Cloud is folding. They moved 700 people onto that project; can't move them all back to where they came from.

Because they’ve set the budgets & plans for the fiscal year starting June 1, and are now making the changes necessary to execute those.

It's Q4, usually the best quarter for the year and they want to maximize the impact of less headcount and most revenue.

It’s all about the 3 stooges managing EPS so they can sell their shares at highest possible prices -SC & MH - and avoid collateral calls - LE. Whatever it takes, whenever it’s necessary!

May not work for you, sure works for the 3 stooges.

For tax purposes now is probably better then the fall. I was riffed in the fall and ended up with a huge tax bill because of the severance plus the sale of options all at the end of the year so my income for that year was sky high and so were my taxes.

When is a good time for layoffs? If they did them in the fall you would also ask why now.
