If it ever looks like O might be taken public, consider your future very carefully.
Internal policies could be even more d#gener@te, ranging from pay equity to "d@ting." No annoying shareholder resolutions.
Owners can use company a$$ets even more at will.
Only way for them to get ca$h out for lifestyle or legacy is to split up and sell assets and spin off lines of business. Layoffs inevitably follow.
I worked in such a place. Made out ok but 70% did not.
If I were LE I would do the same; at this rate he will own more than 50% of the company soon. Maybe he is trying to make it private and avoid Wall street pressure ; I wouldn't be bet against him considering his track record.
Wasn't paywalled yesterday
"Give Oracle this much. When it comes to papering over a dry spell, the company doesn’t skimp on paper. The corporate software giant has been buying an unprecedented amount of its own stock of late. During the first three quarters of the current fiscal year, Oracle has spent about $30.3 billion on share repurchases. That is nearly five times the amount of the same period last year and almost equal to the company’s full outlay for its last four fiscal years combined. This largesse appears to have helped at least set a floor…"
Points were
--massive buybacks seem to set a floor for stock for now
--little capex for cloud not good
--gong to debt position because cash on hand cannot sustain that buyback rate
story is paywalled. care to post the bullet points?
This is why oracle can’t compete the cloud space. Instead of investing in data centers and technology oracle has spent an absolute fortune in stock buybacks. To compete in cloud you need to invest a ton of money, Oracle hasn’t.
Can't see lol
