Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Last week for PTCs

I still can’t believe this is happening. My 25 year career will be over as I chose not to stay. Good luck to anyone who stays. Things just aren’t the same anymore. I’m sure going to miss helping the associates as it won’t be the same for them.

PTC gone is the worst thing ever, now who will people go too? Very few leads care enough to listen as associates need someone to just listen as there are days we need to vent, it takes a caring person not some stupid manager who doesn't give a damn what a shame that Sam's Club no longer cares, and you wonder why we don't anymore.

I’m a PTC and I worked weekends, and saying that there was nothing left for us to do except listen to people complain is ridiculous. You’ll understand everything we did starting Saturday. There’s no need to be so rude and disrespectful towards us

They’ve been taking tasks away from this position for along time now. Not much for ptc’s to do besides listen to people b--ch. There’s no way this position is 8 plus hours hasn’t been for awhile. It’s been along ride of m-f and no weekends be lucky it lasted as long as it did.

Yes my last day is the 29, but I have been hired by a former manager to work for her company as PTC. New company knows how valuable we are and they are hiring all the loyal associates they can,

Yeah Wal-Mart started investing in Workday in early 2017. PTC’s are beating their own drum real loud right now (and rightfully so in many circumstances) but many failed to notice where the Personnel World was headed a few years ago. The company should have been more communicative about it happening. BTW human resource jobs are still a norm; I think the question is for how long or what will that role change into?

The best job I will ever have is the new job I am going to. The worst job I ever worked at was the last job I was at before this job. Well none to surprising why this is happening my PTC has a Monday thru Friday schedule, I have never seeing her work much past 3 pm and being in the club before 8 am unless she needs to leave early. Have a problem we would be given an 800 number to call which of course told us to speak with management or the PTC, you know the one that gave us the 800 number. Did I mention she claims to have more than 20 years of Human Resources experience. By the way I know this is not the norm and the main problem is the company has never seen the PTC as a viable asset. Workday trades at over $190 as of today.

I'm going to miss ours so much I think this is a huge mistake. She is always there for you and actually cares unlike the managers at my club. She leaves next Friday and it's going to be very emotional for all. I wish her the best and all of the other PTC's and associates that have been thrown away by this horrible company. It's not the same and it will never change.

It’s not about the severance. It’s about the way it was handled. The culture of Sam’s is gone. We have Market Change Champions trying to teach clubs HR job duties when they don’t even know how to do it themselves. Making us stress out having to teach our Managers and Leads was a huge slap in the face and only to find out that processes will be changing anyway. My leads are so stressed out now as it is. When are they going to have time to do orientations, which by the way are so impersonal now. It’s become a “figure stuff out on your own” work ethic. Well you better make sure you hire people with computer skills to try to figure out the Wire, Workday, Onewire etc because it’s not easy.

Who is going to be there to talk to and console an associate whose loved one just died, or who just found out they have cancer etc. Most of us were the Moms of the club that associates were so glad could be there for them. Now it’s all about the money. If you’re not a sales producing associate you’re job is useless to the company. I wish all of my fellow PTCs the best of luck in the future whether they leave or stay.

I Love my Associates and they Love and Respect me as well, They are so unHappy as I will Leave on 03/29/2019, They are worried as they No nobody will Listen to them and No body will Care What they need, Managers Has No Idea What PTC Means, Let them Realize but it will be too Late ad We Will be Gone.

Sam's Club is Not about Associates anymore ,It's about Them Selves That's it !

Good Luck To All PTCs who are Leaving 😔

@1wwy no one is saying anything about severance, and yeah it’s still bad, money has nothing to do with it.

They are paying y’all severance, it’s not all bad. Wal-Mart has no obligation to give you anything, seriously.

I agree . It was a slap in the face to have The PTCs train us leads . Awful

Saying we do not need you but hey you have to train these people before we eliminate your position and put you out on the street . Never saw anything like this .

Thank you to all the PTCs wish y’all all the luck

I’m leaving too after 23 years. I love my associates and will miss them. The company has made some poor decisions and the associates suffer. Managers, leads and associates are so stressed out and begging me not to go. I know it is the best decision for me to go! However, like you said it is a slap in the face to be forced to train your replacement! Good luck to all of you!! I for one am looking forward to a change! No more retail for me!

I’m leaving this week also, it was a tough decision but it’s what I have to do. The whole way the company went about bringing Workday on, having another associate take weekly calls about it, not having any training on it, then it launches and the ptcs end up having to learn it for themselves and then eliminate our position but have to train all leads and managers on it was a huge slap in the face in my opinion. Good luck to all no matter what decision you make
