Beginning May 2019 the plan to close 3 stores a month will begin. This is to further cut costs and focus on only on the most profitable stores and categories. This is part of Phase 1 of the new business plan and transformation.There will be a total of 36 stores closing. The list has already been determined and it is being announced in the end April. This is why many stores are getting visits from corporate lately. There will also be a change in leadership once more, as Kmart people in corporate will take majority of control. Prepare for upcoming store closing list and many categories in Softlines dropped. You will start seeing less apparel hit the stores and soon the condensing of Apparel Departments. Many stores will also be doing major changes to floor plans. Like moving hardlines to main entrances and condensing to 1 level. This is to prepare leasing opportunities for other retailers or even selling and leasing the our store space. Many of these changes will be affecting Sears directly. Kmart will also see a significant reduction in Apparel and eventually introduce Large Appliances in all stores. Prepare for new systems and applications since we are switching from legacy Sears Holdings tech. Stay tuned.

I can totally believe that the 3 stooges would believe something as mo--nic as this would work. They can easily blow through a billion dollars of bank money and then have Transform declare bankruptcy. You could see signs of this in the new format stores shortly before the bankruptcy. Schwartz must have known about this, said, I'm getting off this sinking ship, and gotten the hell outta Dodge. Just another way for Eddie to screw others out of billions.

Funny our kmart store has HA but we have been told we will no longer sell large appliances or mattresses.
I'm not saying the OP is full of sh--. But everything they said has been reported in the media over the last few weeks. Not one new piece of information. It could be true but it's not new intel.

Sounds like a legit plan, and the plan doesn't seem to be a good one. But since when has this company done good ideas, right?
What is a "kmart person in corporate" that will "take majority control"???? I didn't know there were "kmart" persons here. Very very few areas have separated kmart persons from Sears persons. So there are no legions of Kmart persons who will move in and take over from the Sears people.
That happened in 2005 and worked wonderfully. Maybe, since they are all gone, they will be returning???
I agree with the poster. My DM mentioned something like this a week ago but he was very vague about it. And remember Eddie has already said that the focus will be on hardlines and stores will have less softlines. Here is the article:

after 3 months they will go to 20 stores closing a month. This is going down fast
I am very skeptical of the validity of the original poster. They tried putting large appliances in Kmart stores and it didn't work. What makes them think it will work this time? Also, when they reduced soft lines and apparel in the stores like they did in ours it drastically reduced traffic in the stores and eventually led to our store closing. Sears admitted it was a big mistake. Like @zmy said, "I'll believe it when I see it."
