mid-2018 we were told that to get ahead of the changes that BNY was implementing for WFH (which really meant that BNY wanted to eliminate this) we were to be in an office at least three days each week. Later in 2018 that changed to be four days per week. BNY did have a request form that if you as an employee felt that you wanted only three per week (and for those based at home no one knew if these employees were going to be forced into an office or even eliminated) you could fill out the form.
For some of us we were told a story that was simply a scare tactic. We were told that if you filled out the request form that we might be put on a list for potential layoff. When you then start hearing of other groups filling out the form and being accepted - you know for a fact that certain managers were either told to give that story or they themselves don't like WFH.
No matter, Charlie Scharf had to backtrack (due not to his backwardness of his policies but rather simply his "miscommunication") that we were to go back to what we were doing mid-November 2018. That's okay, but why bother with a benefit that is a solid success within our business line?
Again, the morale is lousy. No one knows what is going on. Very little real information is provided. Thanks to the great work of BNY executive management (especially Charlie Scharf) they are destroying a great business that was built up over many years.
