If I were a director, and they asked me to axe some one really good in my team , I would at least say no or put my papers first. I haven't seen such nasty directors who would axe the hard working engineers under them to save their a--! Karma bites and will hit back hard soon..be ready to face it.

Glad I'm leaving this god forsaken place and these gratitude less mo--ns. there is lot of waste up there at oracle being paid $$$$$$ and not contributing. They should have been axed not the engineers working day and night !

Layoff were handled poorly. You have to remember this Oracle, where you still have to use beehive for mail and calendar. Because Larry is a tool, you have to use all Oracle c-ap, never best of breed. This leads to a bigger divide between market and Oracle. I think they realized they way overpaid for Dyn, which had overpaid for Zenedge. The revenue is not there with fanboy management. The security from Zenedge could not make the basic grades. The cloud offerings are pathetic and morale is low. Larry said he was serious about cloud, but he said that about NC’s in the 90’s and failed.

They can have all the positions meetings they want, the structure to develop that is very weak. That are clutching at straws to avoid the enivitable outcome. Expect an announcement ina year or so that the are shedding the cloud to focus on core dB tech.

why couldnt they fire 400K salaried fellows and leave the 120k guys alone? They did the reverse

To be honest, experienced engineers know better than to work day and night. I learned that the same way most others do -- by working day and night for no tangible benefit, just burnout and crankiness. Company execs job is to keep shareholders happy, the only time they care about individual employees is when their numbers don't add up.
