Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What seems to be the main criteria for layoffs?

Of course it’s not performance, that never was a thing that could save your job at Oracle. So ist there any indication what parameters are they using when deciding who to cut? Is it age, personal earnings, specific types of workers or is it something else?

Go look at this video of LE from August 2018 announcing ATP https://youtu.be/cJxmowxEsRA

At the time, thought the old guy talked a big vision that would never happen.

I am now thinking he is actually going to try to make that what Oracle is. Everything else must go. There is no secons.

"The "blue-eyed boys" implies manager's favorites and not eye-colour,"

Thanks. I wasn't familiar with that expression. Given all the talk these days of "white privilege" I incorrectly thought that it was something along those lines. I stand corrected.

criteria is that you have a pulse. and if you've been there a significant amount of time, that is a bonus

The "blue-eyed boys" implies manager's favorites and not eye-colour, if you actually misunderstood.

"The blue-eyed boys will never be touched"

????

"(plus when there they will get all benefits, hikes, shares, bonus etc.)"

I see the word "hikes", are you saying that non Indians in India are not laid off?

It isn't always decided by your manager, often the decision is made by people above them, and they are simply handed a list.

It was decided by your manager(s) who only thought about his/her own job security. You are out, see ya.

My salary is lowest in my team. Not increased for long. It has nothing to do with the salary, it depends on the mangers discretion. The blue-eyed boys will never be touched (plus when there they will get all benefits, hikes, shares, bonus etc.)....so if you are not close to your manager, (s)he would suggest your name when they have to give a list.

It’s all about money, the higher your comp - as long as you’re not an exec - and getting rid of women and older folks - LE’s and MH’s misogyny and LE’s deranged quest of eternal youth - lead to blatant discrimination.

"Well, if you are in one of those, performance age salary are not going to save you. You will be deemphasized out the door. He is not done."

Well, that's always the case in any business.

It's not like he specified which ones of the business units are not of interest to him. Now that's the data to comb through.

Sry to those impacted. Oracle needs more cash for buybacks to keep the charade going a bit longer, but the end is near. I’ve hedged my option position because I don’t beileve anymore.

Remember the October analyst call with the pa$sionate LE riff on EM rockets and the drone barges? If you listen around 3:20 forward where LE gets on track with"managing to flat" revenues, he says "deemphasizing businesses we don't care about."

Well, if you are in one of those, performance age salary are not going to save you. You will be deemphasized out the door. He is not done.

what is high pay vs low pay? VP's at 400k are high pay. engineers from 80-130k are low pay?

There seems to be a correlation between age and salary; usually the older you are, the higher your salary. I spoke with a number of my RIF'ed co-workers and we agreed that there seems to be a pattern. Also, more older women tended to be RIF'ed before older men and higher paying before lower paying.

No matter who or what, good luck to all.

My guess is Future criticality / compensation and legal considerations.
