H1bs be careful ..you'll be the first to be axed in a short notice, no matter how much you kiss your managers rear end. all they do is ask you to leave suddenly..you'll get 60 days to find a new job..severance is 1 month pay for 1 year of your service.

I think you are an American. I am a H1 Senior Engineer and I was axed yesterday. So they are firing both H1 and American!

A headcount is a headcount. Dont think anyone is looking into what kind of work permit you have. You are a headcount, and you are a number.
Layoffs were not limited to visa'd employees, longterm US citizen got axed as well with short notice. Also the 60 days notice is only because the CA WARN act requires it when certain number of employees are laid off at the same time. I was recently laid off but not as part of yesterday's mass layoff and I did not get the 60 days notice.
